When she meows she opens her mouth and then she screeches. She only meows when she is in heat, I don't know if this is healthy or not :/

It's fine :) I have some I've never heard meow and I have a Himalayan who is 10 and she has never purred. I've always wondered if there was something wrong w/her but it's been 10 years now so obviously not! She's just happy being miserable as I guess some are happy being quite!

She may screech beause shes purring, alot of cats make that kind of noise when they are happy. Be thankful your cat doesnt meow all the time lol But if your worried ask a vet, but if she does actually meow, like when shes in heat, then she actually can meow-she just doesn't because theres no reason to.

no! I say no trip to the vet! im sure the cat is perfectly healthy. A lot of cats screech instead of do normal meows, thats just their tone of voice haha. Don't be worried at all, seriously.

Some cats are not as talkative as others, so it's ok that she's doesn't meow like other cats. Unfortunately, you need to get her fixed - this will stop her from screeching and it will help settle her down.

i Would be worried if she didn't meow at all :S But atleast she makes some sort of noise, well atleast you know she can meow,Some cats make strange noises ,some cats are pretty quiet while others e.g my aunties pet cat always meows
I think to be 110% sure i would just go see a vet it may be nothing but its good to check
Peronally i would say shes fine if she makes a noise at all the cat across the road from my house always screeches and he's one old cat,But If you fear the worst then i would advise paying a dreaded trip to the vet :P

I've had my kitty for 7 years now, he first meowed about a year ago, before that it was always a quiet screech.
