Well I can tell you this much about it, my mom is 72 and uses it every day. Yep she brushes her teeth everyday with it and has for years. She has pretty white teeth as well. Not only does it whiten your teeth but it also kills bacteria that is in your mouth (on your gums and teeth). For the most part, she don't really use toothpaste or tooth gels, just the baking soda. All she does is just gets her tooth brush wet with water, dips her tooth brush in the box soda (she keeps one in the bathroom) and then brushes her teeth. You can't really can't use to much of it. As a matter of fact, when she was growing up, they couldn't afford tooth paste, so the soda is what they used to brush their teeth with.

I am not certain how much it whitens, but it is fabulous for cleaning the ick off of your teeth. I have a lot of crowns and the professional whitener is bad for crowns. I use it nearly every day and my teeth are doing really nicely thank you.

I put (non fluoride, the fluoride is bad for your Thyroid) toothpaste on my brush and press it into baking soda and brush. I have used it off and on my entire life.

Is it safe, well we eat it, so I would say yes. Baking soda is in many types of cookies, cakes etc.

I just had my teeth cleaned to whiten them and spoke to the hygienist about this...... mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste, brush with this. They make toothpaste with whiteners in them also, but my teeth are too sensitive for them. The lemon will break down enamel on your teeth, don't use that!

Baking soda is something you can brush your teeth with, and it does whiten them, but if you want real, lasting and dramatic results, only your dentist can provide that.

Stay away from the professional teeth whitening procedures and from the whitening at home kits. They are using extremely toxic chemicals that can cause IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO TOOTH ENAMEL and premature tooth decay.

Check out this site: http://www.naturalwhiteteeth.net - It's about how you can whiten your teeth 100% naturally. Same results but 100% safe and 1000 times cheaper.

No, its not harmful. You can use baking soda with lemon too. That helps, but you wont get results in about half a year (I think). You can also try mixing minty mouth wash with hydrogen peroxide. My dentist told me that. She even does that herself.

of course baking soda will whiten your teeth, but the problem is do u know exactly what the amount it is that u need to safely whiten them, with out causing irepairable damage...this is why scientists go to school for years and figure out the exact amount to put in your tooth paste which is safe.........so i would strongly suggest not to prescribe yourself a lethal dose of baking soda.........
