Kind of a double standard.

Well americans culture wise see dogs diffrent than ones that eat dogs..so we do not eat them as a generall rule..

That is our culture, good or bad,, but diffrent than some..

As far as dog fighting, this is illigal in all 50 states, So as a whole is not accepted..

It still practiced.. by a small portion of our society,, as I assume that there are some that may eat dogs here.. but as a whole both types are the minority,,

dog figting is looked down unpon, because the welfare of the animals is under question,, Just as if someone was raising a dog for food,, our culture as a majority..see the dog as something more than a farm animal, or object to be used..

So there is no double standard, most americans would not eat dogs,, most do not fight dogs.. for the same reason.. dogs are more than meat, a tool, but a comapanion, family protector and pet..

Now if you are talking about someone who fights dogs, making comments about eating dogs,, then of couse.. there really is no diffrence.. perhaps a dog fighter would argue that they love their dogs, and such.. but in both cases the dog is a tool, object for a particular use,, one for fighting, one for food,, perhaps because of culture we may as a whole prefer not to eat dogs,, so find it distastfull.. and hard to accept,, But the end is the dog is not a pet, part of the family.. But somthing to be used for a specific purpose,, and similar..

It would be more of a double standard to compare chicken fighting,, we raise and eat chickens,, and people who raise fighting birds as a whole give them better care, houseing and such that the ones we eat.. so there is a double standard.. or even perhaps bull fighting? we eat cows.. and most bulls are turned into veal (slaughtered after birth) in this country..

If it is dog, chicken bull fighting.. Perhaps it is a pain an suffering thing? we do see as a whole here in america..better to kill it quick than let it get injured, or die..for the primary goal of intertainment, status or money..

The only people who engage in dog fighting, American and otherwise, are low life scum who should have a tow chain tied around their necks and be dragged behind a fast moving car.

The majority of the people who engage in dog fighting in the US, do so because of the culture they were raised in. Either a subculture in the US, or one outside the US...and there are gang/crime connections.

Your typically American not only wouldn't EAT a dog, but they wouldn't make it FIGHT either.

Try to keep in mind bear baiting, bull baiting and dog fighting, were all popular in England until the 19th century. Actually, England was participating in dog fighting when it was virtually unknown anywhere else in the world. (Hmm..maybe because the rest of the world ate them instead?)

I think both are very cruel and no not all Americans engage in dog fighting!! So correct yourself there. I have pit bull and rotti rescue and you have no ideal how many pits I get in that were used in fights or how many puppy's were used as bait. I look down upon other countries and ppl in general who eat dogs, and fight dogs. Heck i look down on everyone who engages in any animal fighting or abuse. Your labeling all Americans as animal abusers when your far from the truth. There's ppl like me who give my all for the animals.

Let's not get carried away here! Americans do not condone dog fighting. It is illegal and the only people how do it are one step closer to being child abusers, drug addicts, murders and rapists. The only people who dog fight are the ones who care nothing for the well being of an another creature, and have no value as a human being. Yes, Americans don't eat dog because 99.999999% of the population regards them as part of the family and couldn't eat them the same as they couldn't eat their own kids! We love are pets, and will do everything to protect them.

I believe they are not the same persons. I mean not all Americans engage in dog-fighting, do they?

Well most people don't like dog fighting

I don't care if other countries eat dogs either as long as they are not calling it chicken.

I don't want to eat dogs or cats I love them and I personally don't like the idea but it is no different than how we raise cows just to kill them and eat them. I love a great cow or buffalo steak and in other countries they love their cuts of dog and cat meat.

You are confused. There is a very SMALL number of people who would do either. You can not say AMERICANS and leave it at that.. That's beyond stereotyping...
It's probably similar though to those who don't believe in the death penalty but get abortions. SMALL GROUP when you look at the population as a whole.

Customs are strange things. What we think of as evil others see as ok and what others see as ok, we think of as evil.

I don't think dog-fighting is ok. Not many Americans do. But I do think it is wrong to spend billions on our pets while children starve in this world. Some people would LOUDLY disagree. It's just how you look at it.

I don't think you can make such a sweeping generalization. Dogfighting is illegal in America and certainly not something the majority of Americans engage in.

No. The same people are not involved, hon. You cannot lump Americans into any single category, any more than you can lump all Asians into being rude.
