Would someone care to translate the phrase
¿Qué es la que hay? into English for me. This is one for the natives, so please refrain from using babelfish/google translations.

What you are trying to translate is a common slang, that's the reason why you'll never be able to translate it through babel-type aids, but it is a good try though. Babel is a very respected translater as well as Webster on line. Like we say in Spanish"It's not a deer, but it's good hunting"

"What's up"
-Its a common expression used to say hi, hello, in a friendly way. The closest expression in English is "what's up"
The correct spelling would be:
"¿Qué es lo que hay?";
The article "la" is feminine, and the opposite "lo" is masculine. When speaking in general terms, we used the masculine. It's a grammatical rule.. Therefore, "¿qué es lo que hay?" is the expression that you will prefer to use.
