Photoshop shares the fonts from the Windows font folder. So if you want more fonts just search the web for "true type" fonts (ttf) download them and then just add them to the "fonts" folder. You can find the fonts folder by clicking: My Computer, Windows, Fonts.
Most fonts will download as a compressed file, IE, zipped. if you need to download a decompresser, You can get one here. http://www.tucows.com/preview/194276 It is shareware, but do not worry, it works just fine.

As for teaching Photoshop, your best bet would be to purchase one of the teach yourself books from Staples or Office Depot, etc. Photoshop is a very extensive program and really can't be taught through a few suggestions.

I feel the fonts issue has been answered quite well, so let me address the Photoshop usage question. I would suggest going to tutorial, and tip websites. You just have to glean info off the web, and experiment over, and over. It'll come! Or you can purchase cd's with tutorials on them. Adobe Photoshop is very complicated, but once you learn the basic steps, and experiment with the tools, you're off an running!
