Jehovah's Witnesses are well prepared to discuss bible topics, and a typical Witness may choose to respond to a question such as "Are you born again" in one of several different ways.
Ministers of Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to avoid situations which seem literally dangerous, and so it may be more likely that something about the situation with this householder seemed unsafe to the ministers. Perhaps the questioner's familiarity with "evil spirits" manifested itself as a crazed demeanor which was apparent to onlookers.

I agree with a couple of answers when they say that the Jehovah's Witnesses probably walked off because they sensed something in you that wasn't quite right.
Do you perform faith healing or speaking in tongues in your religion? If so, then you are involving yourself with demons and this is where the feelings are coming from. What you interpret as holy spirit will be, in fact, wicked spirits trying to keep you away from the truth.
Jehovah can help you to break free from their influence.

Lol @ the answer above me!
It is possible that what you felt was right but have you thought that maybe it could be evil spirits in you telling you such things?
What could be so evil about good people spreading the bible message? So, I tend to think its either bad spirits in you or a need for medication personally.

One of Jehovah's Witnesses would never avoid a simple question such as "Are you born again?" We receive weekly training on how to handle any situation that may arise while in the ministry.
However, if a householder is evidently in communication with demons, the safest course of action would be to walk away.

medication needed:D Seriously though, Being asked if we were born again would not cause us to walk off. Maybe what you felt you were seeing in these 2, they too thought they were sensing in you.

It was God giving you discernment, and the words to say to them.

Distortion of faith, is a cult.
there are lots of cults throughout the world, not just those that lie about christianity, but also those that lie about other religions. that is the simplest truth, as far as it is concerned.
keep praying, the gift of discernment would help you and others well, ask for courage and wisdom and believe in God to help you not be deceived.
i certainly believe the conviction of God was strongly in you when you asked them that question.
