I've been dieting for almost a year. I eat less than 1,400 calories a day. I exercise sometimes. I can't lose anymore weight. What can I do to lose weight again?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Well, that's actually a good weight. I'm hoping to get to that weight by September. Sometimes it just depends on your metabolism. My sister and brother have always been so thin. I have always had problems with my weight.

I suppose you need to exercise more. Also, if you are starving yourself and you give in and eat too much, you'll gain more weight! That happened to me. I was eating a lot less than I am now. I lost a lot of weight, but once I got back into my old routine, I put it on fast!

Just try to be happy with the way you look. I've been that weight and it looked good for me. When I got to 128 pounds, it did not look good on me. I guess I was used to being bigger. It made me look sick looking.

Also, when you starve yourself to be a certain weight, your hair starts to take a toll. My hair looked sooo unhealthy because I wasn't getting the right amount of nutrition. There are other things besides being thin that make you look beautiful. Keep this in mind!

I guess I really have no room to talk. I want to lose weight to feel better again (and to fit into my wedding dress), but I suppose the difference is, I would be happy at 130ish cause I was happy before. Good luck!

mainly you need to work out and nourish your body with healthy foods...not junk. You may be eating 1400/day but are those 1400 calories healthy or junk? And you've probably heard this many times but breakfast is very important. In fact, if you do not eat breakfast but you eat lunch you actually are not saving calories your body absorbs the lunch as fat not protein. The same goes for lunch...if you skip lunch and eat dinner the same thing happens. All you need to do is work out (curl ups, running, lifting weights, dance....) and just doing it one day out of the week or just on the weekends doesn't do anything, it needs to be a constant part of your daily routine. Also you may want to do a BMI test. Just look up BMI Calculator on the internet and put in your body information. It will give you numbers...shoot for those numbers and my last words are good luck and lose weight in a healthy manner and be smart about it.

Instead of trying to "lose weight", why don't you try to "reshape" your body?
You say that you exercise "occasionally" and that you are on a resitricted caloric intake "diet" and that you have now reached a "plateau" where your progress has come to a stand still.
You are working under several common misconceptions.
First, unless you have very limited muscle mass, your current weight is about average for your height.
Secondly, you need to be performing weight resistance training two to three days per week on non-consecutive days (i.e., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, etc.) with aerobic/cardio work on the non workout days.
Third, your diet may be one of the reasons you can't seem to lose any more weight. When one restricts one's intake of adequate calories, the body will slow down the rate it uses food so as to store the nutrients it will need and has for later. Another problem is diets don't work as they are usually a quick fix to a long term problem. Learning to eat correctly and doing so for the remainder of your life will be more beneficial and effective.
Finally, your self perception of your body image may be way off. Having a trusted and knowledgable friend give you an honest assessment of how you look, strong points and weaknesses is a good idea. Photographs, taken periodically can also help you to accurately assess your progress and how you actually look.
Why don't you check out two books, both by knowledgable persons who are considered experts in this field? One is ,"Body for Life", by Bill Phillips. This will provide you with a great deal of information regarding exercise and sound, healthy nutritional programs. The next one is, "The New High Intensity Training", by Ellington Darden, Ph.D. Ths will also provide you with excellent exercise information, and nutritional recommendations by someone with his doctorate in nutrition. If you decide to try to pack on "maximum muscle mass", then you will wnat to check out Mike Mentzer's, "High Intensity Training the Mike Mentzer Way".
Good luck to you and I hope that this information will help you reach your "realistic" goals. Remember, it's a journey of a lifetime.

I heard that you can never eat lower then 1,500 calories a day or else your metabolism slows down creating harder to loose weight. Besides, your weight is fine for what I could tell. And besides it could be muscle. IF you are concerned talk to your doctor. Excersize everyday even if it means only walking for an hour a day, excereize everyday is better then nothing. Also eat every three meals but good portions.
