Catholics do consider themselves Christian.
There is some really nice people in the organization.
However Catholics will participate in religious practices that other Christians will not do. Because it goes against what we believe.

Not all Roman Catholics are the same. You'll have to meet him ( you don't know yet, and she's marrying him!) . Ask him.
If he tells you that he prays to Mary and the saints as if God can't hear him or needs a cousel to tell him what's going on, then I'd say 'No' he's a Roman Catholic with the traditions of the Catholic Church and has no faith in God to do what He said he would do. If he says that he goes to church at weddings and funerals and has no relationship with God Himself then he belongs to the Roman Catholic Church and is not belonging to God.
But if he responds with love for God and believes in Him to fulfill his promises ( I've met a few RC's that think this way) , then yes, he is a Christian and a Roman Catholic.
This is all being told to you from the perspective of a dedicated follower of God. Sometimes I call myself a Protestant. So that's my basis for saying what I just said.

well, if you get technical, no. Catholics and Christians believe in the same God, but they do things quite differently.
Catholics are about rules, tradition, and praying thru mary (Jesus' earthly mum).
Christians are about having a relationship with God, and doing what the word of God says, praying thru Jesus to the Father.
if your daughters fiancee just claims to be a catholic but does not live the traditional Catholic way, attending mass each week, praying etc, then you dont really have to worry about it. He isnt really Catholic, he just calls himself that coz his parents baptised him that way. If they are living together before they are married its a sure sign his religion is not that important to him, in this case, as long as they get married in a catholic church, he will be happy.
if he is a practicing Catholic, going to church weekly, communion, confession, the whole lot, then i suggest you read up on Catholicism to respect his religion. You dont have to pretend for him or anything, but if you want a better understanding of what your daughter is getting into, its best to learn about it.

The Roman Catholic church (RC) has bad doctrines like a lot of other Christian Churches. The RC teaches the Nicean Creed which causes Christians to act foolish and declare three co-equal Gods, they don't let priests and nuns marry, they pray to dead saints especially Mary, etc.
However, you have to learn Christianity somewhere so why not start there? Consider it a starting point - not the end point.

I'm always amazed at the frequency with which this question appears. Catholics believe that there is one God, and that his son was incarnated in the person of Jesus, who died on the cross, and three days later, rose from the dead and shortly after ascended bodily into heaven where he sits on the right hand of the Father and intercedes for sinners.
Yes, Catholics are Christians.

A Christian puts faith in Christ alone for salvation from sin. A Christian relies on the Bible alone for authoritative guidance from God. Some Catholics may be Christians, but they have to disbelieve some Church doctrine.

It depends on the man himself
if he believes in Jesus than he is a true follower of Christ or "Christian" if he is just catholic that doesn't believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior, than he believes something else like going to heaven is by works and he prays to saints and stuff, then he is not a true "Christian"
many people are christian by name and don't really believe in Christ

Yes. But in modern times (that means now adays) a persons religion is not a huge factor when decideing on marriage. Marriage is not something we do for social standing anymore. My husband and I have been happily married for 3 yrs and he is Christian and i'm Pagan. We love eachother and have accepted our faiths. Our families also have accepted it and if your daughter wants to be wed to the anti christ you should support her and love your new family member as your own.

Sort of. So what? Wouldn't it be better to have your daughter marry someone she loves and be happy then have to marry someone just because he is a member of her same religion and be miserable for the rest of her life. If people would focus more on love and happiness than hate and intolerance the world would be a much nicer place. God doesn't mind who your daughter marries. He just wants her to be happy as you should.
