Why do Liberals HATE the Military?

It seems that Liberals actually do hate the military. They protest recruiters and try to bar people from going inside. What I think is funny about the whole situation is how great the military is. Liberals like to cheer on minorities and women coming out of poverty and going to college and they want to give these things to them for free, and lower the standards in order to get them in. The military on the other hand gives oppurtunity to countless millions of minorities that would otherwise not have the oppurtunity to go to college. The military not only gives them a college education, but also gives them the work ethic that will make them succeed beyond college. The military has improved the lives of millions of Minorities over decades. You would think the liberals would praise this, but they only protest, *****, and bar the military from anywhere they can. Does anyone else think this is rather ironic?

I guess I lost the "support the troops" atmosphere of liberals when they went and protested at a friend of mine's funeral screaming baby-killer and murderer at the greiving mother. I somehow lost that assumption when I had liberal protesters screaming at me calling me a baby-killer/murderer. If they only disagreed with the high-ups, why would the scream at 2nd lt. calling them baby-killers? Or maybe at a grieving mother calling her dead son a murderer? I cannot believe and will not believe ever again that liberals in any way support the troops.

Iceman, the comment about the civil war was quite sarcastic. I'm in the marines buddy, you should probably be more careful before you start throwing around accusations and nonsense. I have been in combat in afghanistan.

Not sure they hate the military as much as they hate what the military is there to do. They don't hate the people, they just hate war and killing. Liberals in general support the people in the military, "support the troop" campaigns...but are not supporters of the machine that drives the troops, i.e., the Pentagon, the White House, and in many cases the Congress.

I agree with you 100% as I benefited from military service and it helped me pay for college and to be honest I would not be who I am had I not served.

p.s. I'm not a liberal or conservative...

I am Libertarian in my leanings and I have no problem with the Military if they are used to patrol our borders. I am assuming you are very young still and don't know the history of the United States becoming the Policeman of the World. After Truman dropped his two bombs and then saw Israel repatriated Eisenhower came on the scene and had the CIA do the Coup de etat on Iran. That is he had them pose as Thugs to defeat the sovereign economy based on oil and make no mistake - this is all about an oil monopoly - and then when Eisenhower exits after shutting the door on all reasonable debate - he gives a speech about the military industrial complex. He should know! Why should we have to police the world? Is this still the Crusades as Great Britain has turned the reigns (spelling intentional) over to us to rule the world. We sound like a bunch of angry children fighting in someone elses sandbox to the rest of the world. I know, you don't care, but you all want those trade agreements all over the world in spite of being a bully

liberals live in a world were the cup is half empty, and that you cant help yourself and that they have to help you. If you are a strong person such as a u.s. serviceman or woman, the military has given you in bootcamp and training. you are more likely to fall on the republican side. I never even paid attention to politics till I served. I couldnt even stomach being a liberal. the democrat party is not the same one it was in the 40's. it was more like how republicans are now.

I am not a member of any parties. But what I have seen is that the Liberals, don't hate military, if they want to bring our boys home, and end our involvement in a conflict that has got nothing to do with us. Also our military should be used only for defense and not offense. Spending money for offensive purposes is a waste. Many People in US are below poverty line, and we give billions of dollars away to foreign countries.
I am not a Liberal or Democrat.
I use my logic and common sense.

But you probably have read some of the answers in this category, I mean some kid sitting in his comfortable home and talk about war, and to me, that is just unfair to some one like yourself who has been in a actual combat and knows how serious it is. You know better than any body about war, and what it does. Ain't war hell?

I completely agree with you. The liberals are being hypocritical. However, they might be protesting the military's leaders at the Pentagon, rather than the institution itself. It is ironic, though.

I saw it when I got back from, Viet Nam. It was the liberals, who spat on me and called ME, a baby killer.
If you look around now, those liberals are the real, baby killers. How many abortions performed?
Most liberal leaning professors, would rather save the likes of Jeffery Dahmer and Jack the ripper. Than pay respect, to the very people, protecting, their sorry, a$$es.

they have also conveniently forgotten the fact that the military is a VOLUNTARY service. those that go CHOOSE to go and serve their country for whatever reason. its only when the military can DO something for them that its ok, like see the word, get outstanding work experience, and get a free education....thats when the military works for them!

Liberals support the ACLU, and the ACLU hates the military because the military kills terrorists, and the ACLU loves defending terrorists because the ACLU is anti-American and loves Nazis and terrorists. Source of the problem= ACLU!
