The answers so far are close but not quite right. The air isn't getting any thicker. The relative average air pressure over the earth has stayed the same. The makeup or composition of the atmosphere has been changing though due to carbon/pollution emissions. CO2 is up and a variety of other impurities are now in the air. So, it's not thicker, per se but it is changing.

The atmosphere thickens everytime emissions are released. The greenhouse gases build up and thicken the atmosphere which results in a retainment of heat from the sun which worsens global warming.
