Hi. My waters broke with a big flood early this morning, I am 3 days overdue. I have been in to the hospital to be checked, everythings fine and they have sent me home again to wait. This is standard in the UK to be at home until labour starts UNLESS there are any problems. Its now 9 hours since they broke and i haven't felt any contractions at all, just had a little blood in pants. My question is how long after your waters broke did u go into established labour and delivery? They are going to induce me at 8.30 tomorrow morning if nothing has happened, but Im hoping to do this on my own with a water birth. This is my first. Thanks

yes here after it breaks you stay in the hospital for a number of reasons and if you don't feel rite about it go to another Dr or go to another hospital don't wait if you have a gut feeling go with it . I have 3 kids and know I would not wait . a dry birth is not good and your baby should be monitored till the minute you have it after the water breaks . If I was you I would not wait around go to another Dr if that one don't want to here you . you gut is usually rite and if you are asking this Q then you have a filing its just not rite .
Good luck ( I went with mine and it saved my baby)

I'm not sure but i would atleast call my doctor. I personally would go to the hospital. There is a time frame (not sure exactly what it is) in which the baby has to be delivered once a womans water has broken. Nine hours to me seems like alot of time without atleast being checked since you water has broken. Atleast call the doctor. Good Luck and Congratulations on being a mother for the first time.

Normally if your water breakes and in a few hours they induce you because a dry birth is not good. But what you need to do is walk ALOT. and stimulate your nipples this will help you start labor since you are over due. Good luck.

i'm in the US and it is standard to stay in the hospital after water is broken because of the risk of infection. i guess if you want to have a water birth and all that you maybe need to just hang in there, but if it were me, i would be on the phone to the dr, talking his/her ear off as to why i was still at home.
good luck!
