Buy some wax worms and use a size 6 or size 8 hook ad usually u can catch pan fish off the shore. Time wise your best bet is at about 6 A.M. and where ever there is shade. But if there is an overcast that is the best condition

Most panfish will eat worms, small minnows, bugs, whole kernal corn ( inexpensive). Crickets are outstanding for large 'shellcrackers' in Mississippi. They will also go for dry flies and small jigs and spinners. Tactics depend on where you live and what time of year you are fishing. Go talk to the folks at your local mom & pop tackle store - and buy from them! Avoid idiots at Wal-Mart, etc. In Wisconsin, they sell leeches as bait and they work well.

Machman4 is ideal... attempt going somewhat deeper with a malicious program yet right here's somewhat more advantageous to assist. attempt fishing as close to to cover as achieveable (Stumps, timber, Grass) contained in the water. those structures function a twin objective. a million. they help the smaller fish cover and avoid the bigger predators. 2. they help the bigger fish, who're ambush predators, to position in watch for the fish they devour. Bluegill aren't to any extent further a lot different. They feed both in an opportunistic and predatory way. also, yet another sturdy thanks to seize the bigger gills is to apply small stay minnows. on a bobber. in my opinion what I do is hit upon no longer some thing yet a malicious program on a hook, no weight or bobber, on a very gentle rod and reel with 4lb try line. this allows me to forged out farther and get to the position the bigger ones are. i have yet to interrupt the 1lb bluegill mark yet i'm close.

you can catch them anytime of the day and you would use a very small hook, say a number 12 bait hook. when i catch bluegill i will use a small piece of worm and a small bobber. you really have to watch because they will steal your bait right off the hook. i have also used mealworms and waxworms. if you are familiar with jigs you can also catch them by jig fishing
