How formal should I go? The invite does not state formality, i.e. no black tie.

Just wear a nice dress or something. Don't wear all black or white.

No. It would not be bkack tie for the guests and rarely is for guests. You may go black tie for you and the wedding party, as your reception will go into the evening. If you were to have an 11am wedding, then it is semi-formal with the men wearing morning coats.

Just a pretty dress. If you like the more formal "look", go for a tea-length dress. If the ceremony is in a church, don't bare a lot of skin.

If it is a 3:00pm wedding, the reception will probably start around 5:00pm and end around 10:00ish; so it will be an evening reception. So I would wear something nice... Cocktail dress maybe. Have fun!
