I'm 38 yrs old and had a complete hysterctomy about 3 yrs ago. Before then, it was so simple to lose the weight. Now, I struggle terribly. I am about 10 - 15 lbs overweight. I could almost starve myself throughout the week and lose about a pound. Then, if I eat the wrong thing, it'll come right back and then some. I am an active person and drink plenty of water. I am so frustrated and feel very uncomfortable. What more can I do?

if you starve yourself you lose water weight and muscle not fat and as soon as start eating normal again gain even more back. also this way you slow down metabolism dramatically.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Your body is missing something to work its thermostat. The time to train it to adapt the way you want was right after the operation. Your body's fat thermostat has been re-set to the weight your at now. You have to work at changing that. Starving yourself will just make it worse. You need to take a good vitamin supplement. And your diet needs to be altered to allow you sufficient calories but train your body to need more food. i.e. go truly vegetarian and eat lots! There is no way for your body to hold on to fat when you take away the sugars and refined flour and minimize the fat intake. You have to eat vegetables all day to keep up. But that's the point... keep eating to keep burning the fat. And, there is a difference between being an active person and being an athletic person. You have to dramatically increase your cardiovascular exercise (in increments of course). Your body has to be given a reason to give up the fat. Start thinking like a lean Amazon woman. You have to run alot of jungle and shed the fat to be comforable in the heat. While your out there you can feast on the new foods you will discover as you forage. Shock your body with new foods. It will want more, burn more and stimulate your mind to new levels of energy and you will lose the weight.

You need to burn extra energy than you're taking in. If you are living a semi sofa potato lifestyles you need to stand up and get going and that involves your brain set additionally. You need to be set on your brain to drop pounds and keep on with it NO MATTER WHAT... Take in tons of protein which builds muscle and muscle weighs not up to fats. Also drink part your frame weight in oz of water an afternoon to flush away the fats and to provide your liver a holiday so your kidneys can do what they're meant to do. You have got to determine resistance excerise or loose weights and aerobic a minimum of three instances every week. I drink a protein drink earlier than and after I exercise and I am fifty one and appear beautiful well they inform me. I have a bowflex which I endorse.. Good Luck!!!

Since your not officially obese yet there is still hope. Having the procedure you mention probably means you take some medications that can affect weight as well. The thing with diets is that most people can't stay away from foods at critical times of the day. So it's not just "What" you eat that is important it is also a question of timing of when it is eaten. Reaching your goals will take dedication & hard work. Do you have a coach?

Actually, contrary to popular belief, starving yourself is not the way to go. Your body tends to hold on to fat stores when it notices that your calorie intake is too far below what it needs to simply sustain itself. I've been using the site calorie-count.com. There are some great tools on there to calculate out how many calories you use in a typical day. (BMR). Your goal then, is to only cut about 500-700 calories a day. This helps you lose about 1-2 pounds a week.

The good news is that you don't have that much to lose! You'll reach your goal in no time. It's just important to remember to do it in a healthy way. If you support your metabolism, it will help you get back on track as well.

Try fruit for breakfast, starch for lunch and protein for dinner. You can have salad and vegetables at lunch and dinner. Bananas rate as a starch. You can eat as much as you like. No portion or calorie counting. Water between meals -preferably half an hour or more before, not after.

Yo Yo dieting will not help you. See a good dietician and get a diet plan. Eat right and exercise. Try weightwatchers if you need more help.
