Nowhere in the Bible is there a prohibition against killing people in the name of God.

The exact opposite is true, the Bible is filled with commandments to kill the unbelievers and the infidels, and those who worship other Gods.

The only prohibition is against murder, meaning killing in your own name and for your own purposes.

Killing in the name of God isn't just condoned by religion, it is commanded.

Which is why you people always end up doing it. even today, even the Christians.

Man, you were a lot funnier in the Eighties.

I'm not sure you're getting the killing thing right.

While killing for religious reasons is present in many religions, in many faiths, that command is lessened. Jesus doesn't ask for many people to be killed, does He? And Gandhi was inspired by the Bagavhad Gita to launch a pacifist revolution in India.

(The Bagavhad Gita, for those who don't know, is the story of God in the form of lord Krishna telling a king that he must go to war. It's more complicated than that, but that's at least a thumb nail.)

It seems to me that wars are wanted for secular reasons, and then people search for, and find, all sorts of excuses to commit that war. And some of the excuses are religious in nature, even Christian.

Father, I spent four years in the infantry. And never once did I witness someone killing for Christ. I never met anyone, who had met anyone who did that. In fact, the adage, 'kill a commie for Christ', was a phrase of derision.

I know many people who have killed for their country. My father, his father, and so on back to the dawn of nations. Israel wanted a king, and God reluctantly gave them Saul, and warned them what would happen with their young men.

No one wants war, certainly not God. But, when it happens, do it well, make it quick, and try to get back to the garden....

The Bible says not to kill, Jesus says that we need to love God and one another. The message is very clear.

To me, killing in the name of God is still murder.
Killing captured enemies in cold blood? Murder.
Killing sleeping children? Murder.
Sacrificing your daughter to God? Murder.

You`re smart and articulate, why don`t you use it to spread good advice in an other category instead of wasting your talent in something you don`t believe in.

Um, you answered your own question.

PR would be against it.

Thanks for taking 4 paragraphs to state that.
