The only method of testing a speaker to find out how much power it can handle is to find out how much it can't handle (then throw it away and buy a new one). I realize this isn't much help to you.

Generally, just about any car subwoofer should be able to handle at least 100 watts RMS. Most will handle more. Entry-level subwoofers are usually rated in the 150-watt range.

What size are the tweeters? Separate tweeters should be able to work with a 40-50 watt output, but it's CRITICAL that you use them only with a crossover filter. You will blow the tweeters if you try to play them without a crossover. Since I assume you don't know the recommended crossover point of the tweeters, you should be safe if you use a crossover around 3000 Hz or higher.

The only way to find the rms wattage of the speakers is to find out the manufacturer of them and then from there you find what model number and that will tell you the power requirements of said speakers, without knowing the manufacturer you will never know what you have. You could take them to an audio store and show them what you have and they might be able to tell you what they are.Good Luck.

If you have any manufacturer or model # look it up on the web, if not the only thing you could really find out is their ohm. rating with a multimeter.

look on the box, or type in the name of the speaker
