I know that God is a Spirit, and spirits don't have a gender, so if you also believe that God can be female, what personality traits would God display to show that there is also a female side?

You are correct that G-d is spirit. However, even spirits have images & shapes & characteristics.
He (!) is compassionate, nurturing & gentle. This are some of the feminine characteristics of G-d. The name "El Shaddai" literally translates into...the many breasted G-d, & refers to this feminine aspect.

Well, I'm not sure God is a spirit. The Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit might be a part of the triune identity, but most people's view of a spirit and their view of God would not match up smoothly.

And I'm not sure that spirits are gender neutral, anyways. We don't have a lot of evidence on the nature of Spirits. Culturally, spirits can be defined as either neutral or male or female.

I've said before that God seems to fulfill the role of Male, with the physical world playing the role of female, but it's more an illustration, rather than a hard and fast view on my part.

The "God is Female" camp is generally viewing God as a nurturing parent. I suppose it works, but it doesn't work for me.

God is Spirit. However God Himself shows the characteristics of both male and female. He portrays Himself throughout Scripture as a Father, Shepherd, Bridegroom, etc., all these being male characteristics. But He also exhibits tenderness and maternal love as well. In Isaiah 49:15, God says that even if a mother could forget her infant, a remote possibility in itself. He could never forget His own. In Matthew 23:37, He compares His love to the purely maternal kind, of a mother hen sheltering her chicks under her wings. So He does have the attributes of both male and female in Himself.

first off, God is Not spirit, alone. Remember jesus was resurrected and lived as a male gender.
the phrase in the bible which says God is spirit and therefore we must worship him in spirit is always taken out of context. in the same context, it can be said of everyone that WE are SPIRIT.
if your sunday school lessons teach you something else or if the new age teaches that God is Female remember that God made man in HIS image, than he created a female from the man.
there are other levels of understanding about the existence of God and the gender of the son of God and the resurrection that should be considered

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most merciful.

you are asking a question and affirming it at the same time .

God almighty does not have a Gender. He is'' UNIQUE "
The Holy Quran describes almighty God very decisively in
such a manner that nothing is left to the Imagination and no one can dispute it or contest it !
In Sura Al Ikhlas Ch.112 God says of Himself
'' Say he is Allah The One and Only ''
'' Allah us Samad , The absolute'
''He begets not nor was he begotten ''
''And there is non comparable or co equal unto Him ''

The quran does use the masculine gender when referring to
The almighty as the Arabic language does not posess a
neuter gender.

Such is our lord of the heavens and earth and say not of God
what we know not .

Compassion, the giving of life and willingness to forgive.

The last time I knew, men were not the actual givers of life.

I'm just guessing here....actually I don't think there is any proof. It's just a matter of what you believe.

The angels are said gender neutral though. This is common knowledge however, I think that Gabriel tends to have more female than male traits.

God is male, because He is referred to as the Heavenly Father, not the Heavenly Mother in the Bible.
