They grab hold of the bits that re-enforce their own moral code while promising a reward for looking silly once a week.
Anything that challenges what they grab hold of, they will reject.

Good point. Xians will accept human fallibility. But insist the bible is complete Truth, even though it was written by men, and edited by King James.

i got here across my recognition of atheism to be a delightful and enlightening adventure. I had a no longer elementary time believing in a loving God who created an eternal Hell for terribly just about the completed international. Then I in comparison the Bible memories to scientific actuality and found out how silly i replaced into to have self belief them. As somebody who replaced right into a Christian, I had an unreasonable dislike of gays and different communities. Now that i'm now no longer a Christian, I settle for everyone for who they are. Many doorways have unfold out to me considering I dropped my Christianity.

The human authors of the biblical texts were not infallible. They were inspired by God, Who is infallible. The Pope is infallible in certain specific matters, again because God specifically granted him that charism, telling him, "whatsoever you bind upon earth is bound in heaven". Pretty straightforward. But he is not infallible in any other matters. No-one claims that pastors or priests are infallible, though some Protestant pastors seem to think that their personal interpretations of the Bible are infallible, to the point that they will spend millions of dollars constructing a museum aimed at convincing others that their interpretations are correct, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

I don't know which Christians you have been talking to (God knows there are many out there who don't have a clue) but the whole point of Christianity is that EVERYONE is fallible and we all need Jesus. No coercion necessary, just a decision yea or nay. Anyone who tells you differently is whack.

Fellow sinner,
GOD said that the BIBLE is TRUTH. HE inspired it's writing and that makes it TRUTH. I myself am a human and therefore am fallible as are every other person that you named. People are subject to sin from satan's tempting us. Have a wonderful day. REad, study, and obey GOD's WORD, the BIBLE.
Thanks,
Eds

You know what I love about Christians, when hey don't actually answer questions. Like they tell you what the Bible says about a subject or something, but don't answer the question. That's what I'm seeing here. Cracks me up.
