The "deal" with the Muslims and the Jews started with Muhammad. When he moved to Medina, three tribes of Jews were living there, and many Jews and Christians and people of other faiths lived throughout Arabia. Where are they now?
Here's what happened to the three tribes of Jews in Medina:
1. the first was exiled because one Jew insulted one Muslim woman.
2. The second was exiled because while Muhammed was at their leader's house for dinner, he had a "revelation" that the guy was planning to kill him.
3. The third had a worse fate. When Mecca attacked, the leader of the final Jewish tribe stopped to think about which side he should be on, after seeing what kind of an ally Muhammad had proven to be for the first two. In the end he stayed faithful to Muhammad, but Muhammad had heard that he had considered switching sides, so all the men were beheaded and the women and children were sold into slavery.
This didn't get things off to a very good start.

A long time ago I was studying Judaism with my uncle. That is when I first learned about Isaac and Ishmael... I had no idea about this before.
I then once asked him, if the Jews and Muslims are related, then why are there so many conflicts between them?
My uncle answered, "Look at all the conflicts families have... just because people are family it doesn't mean there are no conflicts"
not that its a perfect explanation... but it made enough sense.
incidentally, years later I converted to Islam and my uncle won't speak to me anymore LOL
I think that is so retarded.

It's mostly political.
Concerning faith, most Muslims instill in their ranks an inherent hatred for the Jews, often depicting them as backstabbing, paganistic, and greedy monsters who've betrayed Allah(God) by rejecting the two Messiahs(Jesus[A.S.] and Muhammad[S.A.W.]).
But this is pure ignorance. I, being a Muslim, have researched the history of Islam objectively, and was surprised in the least to learn that Muslims and Jews actually DID live in harmony before during Islam's golden years(750 - 1250 A.D.). I strongly believe that we(Muslims, Jews, and Christians) should live peace, because in the end, the Judgement is God's alone.
No Jew has ever harmed me, slandered me, betrayed me, etc. To say that all Jews are monsters would be hypocritical especially for the Muslims. They are still the 'People of the Book' and thus deserve our respect and peace.
Knowledge is power; power is freedom; freedom is peace.
Peace be upon you...

The issue goes back about 4,000 years to the father of all three religions, Abraham.
God told Abraham that he and his wife Sarah would have a son. Sarah was infertile, unable to have children, which would mean a miracle on God's part. Sarah didn't have the faith to wait and she convinced Abraham to have sex with her slave girl, Hagar. She conceived a child, a son, named Ishmael. He is the progenitor of the Arab peoples.
He was not the "son of promise" however. A few years later, God indeed blessed Abraham and SARAH with a son, Isaac, the progenitor of the Jews. This is where the fighting began. The first born son was the one to receive the "birthright", the one who would inherit EVERYTHING that belonged to the family. Technically, the first born was Ishmael, so the Arabs (read: Muslims) believe they should have all of the Middle East, especially Jeruslaem and Palestine...but...Isaac was the one that God had promised to them, therefore, God saw Isaac as the TRUE first born, (read: Jews) so they have/had the right to the land mentioned.
What it all boils down to, (the war in Irag, the lack of peace in Palestine, the turmoil boiling in Iran) is two brothers fighting over Dad's property. I may have oversimplified it, but there it is in a nutshell.
Everyone may think that "God" is what you make of Him, but to worship any "God" other than the true God is idolatry. There are even Christians who think they are worshiping the God of the Bible, but they have made Him over in their image, what they want Him to be...they worship in vain. The God of the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, whatever, is NOT the same God as the Biblical God of Christianity...the issue of Jesus being divine settles that question.

If youre talking about Palestine, Its all politics of land.
Nothing to do with religion.
However there are reports of the Prophet warning Muslims about Arab Jews in general because they were characteristically backstabbers.
The Muslims and Jews had had a number of mutual agreements and Jews were known to break them on occasion so the Prophet decided to warn those who followed him to be on guard towards Jews back then.
In this day and age, its not just Jews that I would be on guard for, anyone I dont know, i.e. strangers, are not gonna get my full trust, even if theyre Muslims.

Ah, you have asked the $64,000 question. (Sorry; showing my age there.) They are all monotheists, so presumably they all worship the one god. However, they see that God very differently, and their relationship to Him very differently. Jews can be seen as his priests and scribes while Muslims apparently see themselves as his warriors. However, the modern Israelites have some pretty tough warriors among them.
