Have you recently had a friend who has committed or comtemplated suicide? If you are asking this question in the spiritual sense, Catholics believe it is a mortal sin to commit suicide and therefore you will end up in hell fire, Buddhists also believe that you will end up in the "hungry ghost" realm, which I suppose is the equivalent, I am not certain about the Hindus or Islamics but I would imagine they believe something similar.

As an agnostic (a slightly doubtful person with Buddhist leanings) I believe you should make the best of what you have in this life, because there is always the possibility that we simply become food for worms.

The same as the souls of the righteous--they cease to exist.

There is nothing in the Bible or science to indicate that there is knowledge after the brain decays.

The wise man says: (Eccl. 9:5) "For the living know that they shall die: but THE DEAD KNOW NOT ANYTHING, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

The time is coming when they will hear the voice of Michael the arch angel and raise to life. God and holy angels will will have studied their entire life. They will take into consideration what truths they have accepted or rejected. How they lived and treated others. Would they serve God unflinchingly and be trustworty in His Kingdom.

God does not err, and the purpose of this conflict on earth is to determine who will live eternally. And this earth, the arm-pit of God's galaxies, will ultimately be restored and the center of the His universe.

God has hidden a code in the Bible that unfolds the plan of redemption, as well as identifies Antichrist. It will answer many of your questions: http://abiblecode.tripod.com

I heard this guy speaking the other day, I think his name is John Deer. He's a great christian speaker. When he was a kid his dad committed suicide. Some years later John became a christian and was very upset as he now realized there was a heaven and a hell and knowing his dad had killed himself as much as he didn't want to come to terms with it realized he must have gone to hell. Then 20 years or so later a friend of his called him(also a great man of God) he said I've just had a dream about your dad and told him his dads full name. This really shook John as it was a really strange name and hardly anyone knew it as his dad was embarrassed by it anyway this guy saw Johns dad with Jesus in heaven. When you here all the details it quite amazing. I've been a christian for 10 years and I've always thought that suicides went to hell. I now don't think so. Some do some don't its not the deciding factor. Belief in Jesus is.

First let me say that I hope you aren't considering suicide and if you happen to be please seek some help. Second it would really depend upon your religious beliefs. Some believe they go to hell. Personally in my beliefs I believe they are reincarnated, all souls not just suicides. You revisit the physical world until you learn from the mistakes your soul made in it's past life. So in a manner of speaking I believe they get a second chance to get it right. However this is only my belief. Truly what matters is what you believe or what you were taught to believe

Life is a circle, so trying to escape life is like walking a labrynth. If you get lost and don't know which way to go, STOP. Take a deep breath, and relax. Stay there till the answer comes to you and then move on.

I believe that suicides start over again right where they left off and that life is eternal. God is Love and forgiveness so there is no punishment involved. Unless you choose that. The movie "what dreams may come" has a great perspective on this. No one ever dies in vain, it is a lesson for all persons involved, even the one how reads about it in the paper. We never do die!

Well..according to Dante's Inferno (which is just fun to read) the souls of people who committed suicide go to a certain circle of hell, where they are turned into trees and bushes, and half women/half birds nest in their branches and constantly scratch them and break off their branches and basically annoy the hell out of them for all eternity.

Good question.

Given that life is not for us to take or give, then that rule applies to our own lives too...If I commit suicide, then I have committed a double-fold sin:
- Taking a life away that is not within my jurisdiction to do;
- But more importantly, suicide is the result of giving up faith and hope in a living God.

In Christiaity we believe that so long as there is God, who is eternal and ever present and ever loving towards us, then we should stick to Him and He will lovingly guide us through the toughest of situations. To commit suicide is me turning my back on that, giving belief in Him, and thus "denouncing the Holy Spirit and His power within me"...Therefore, we believe that Hell is the only destination.

Having said that, we also know that most suicide cases are a result of difficult and tough mental processes that lead to clinical depression and other related mental illness. In this instant, we know that God will be merciful and will Judge that soul on its own merits and not on a "black-and-white" guideline of judgement.

Which brings me to the next point...God is the only judge of every soul. And everyone's judgement will be different. So the above is only a mere speculation. Excpet offcourse in a clear instant where someone in his full mind with no instant made it clear that he/she have given up hope and chose to ta their own lives for no other reason than just chosing to give up.

I hope this helps...God bless

PS: Please do not consider it yourself. There is always a solution to every problem, for Christ Himself said "come to me all you budened and heavy ladened and I will give you comfort..."

We are responsible to preserve our own life for God's honor and our salvation. We are stewards, not owners, and life is not ours to dispose of.
Suicide contradicts the human tendency to preserve life. It is gravely contrary to a love of self, a love of neighbor (because it breaks ties of family and friends), and love for God.

If suicide is committed to set an example (especially to the young) the act assumes the gravity of scandal. No one can voluntarily cooperate in another's suicide. Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, grave fear of hardship, suffering or torture can diminish responsibility.

Because God can always provide an opportunity for repentance, we should not despair of the salvation of the person. The Church prays for those who have committed suicide.

Peace and every blessing!

No one can answer this question honestly, but if you are asking my opinion i would think they would go somewhere where they would find peace, after all if the person hated their life so much that they wanted to die then I'm sure a kind and just God, if there is one would understand that and embrace them.

From my point of view, there is no such thing as a soul.
From a theist's point of view, it would depend. Were they religious? Were they Islamic suicide bombers? All of these things affect the answer.
