The CIA Fact Book notes that Luxembourgish is the official national language, but French and German are the administrative languages of Luxembourg. Since Luxembourg is only 2,586 square kilometers, or about the size of the state of Rhode Island, its citizens would need to speak something besides Luxembourgish. Most probably all citizens are fluent in both French and German.

Hi, I´ve got family there, the official lanuage are Luxemburgish (a mix from French and German), French and German...starting from the age of 8 kids learn French and German at school and become fluent in these languages...the newspapers have articles in both languages at the same page!! A lot of young people go to Germany or France to study...of course they learn English at well starting from 12 or so...my cousins have got a Dutch mother, and speak this language as well..I feel they had it so easy and quite envy them!!!
