In response to a previous question (first link), a few expressed this sentiment: "speed limits are a safety issue, marriage limits aren't."

But isn't that a matter of opinion? For example, between December 1995 to May 1999, Montana's daytime automobile speed limits were whatever was "reasonable and prudent." Even though I did not live in Montana, as a libertarian-leaning person, I really liked this law, and saw "reasonable and prudent" as, well, reasonable and prudent. I had hopes the concept would sweep the nation. But, alas, OTHERS SAW DANGER WHERE I DID NOT, and the law was changed to be more restrictive. Do those who support the legalization of same-sex marriage understand that OTHERS SEE DANGER WHERE THEY DO NOT?

I have lived in Montana for 28 years now and it was great while we didn't have a speed limit on the highway. Everyone drove a decent speed until a few got killed in car accidents and they passed a bill to change the speed limit to 75. People are still getting killed and driving fast, so it made no difference. We also had many other privileges until these out of state voters started moving in. Our state does not allow same sex marriages and I hope they never will. Yes, I see great danger with it. Under God's conviction it is a terrible sin.

Speed limits are a road safety issue, marriage is a civil and human rights issue... marriage is not an animal rights issue or an inanimate objects rights issue .

I think there has been ample time to debate the dangers that you foresee, like for example everyone wanting to marry their mailboxes or other attractive red herrings if gays are given equal marriage rights... I'm so convinced.

I think the best way to support marriage is to support marriage, for Christians and for gays. As I don't know of any mailboxes or red herrings who are asking for civil rights equality at the moment we won't worry about them just now.

If you go 55 MPH you get better gas mileage.
And the marriage thing, I do not believe or condone and the Bible backs me up.
