No, transportation position is not an issue with LCD. Obviously you need to take care in the vertical position no other object punches the screen. But otherwise it is not a problem.
Transportation is an issue with PLASMA, as the "plasma" is actually a gas inside the unit, if you transport it horizontally and is a big screen then it may bend and that may cause an small internal break letting the gas to scape.

Look at the packaging - there will be a couple of arrows pointing in the direction it should be stored and transported. I guarantee that it will be vertical...
(Think about it - it's a television set. When you watch it, will it be stood up or lying down? All fragile goods are supposed to be transported in the position they will be used.)

you can get away with it, if it is a short drive. ie picking up from the shop you brought it and driving home. LCD's can do it, but not plasmas.
Most of my customers will pick up in family car, and to date no-one has had any problems with doing it this way

No there's no worry about transporting it any way round. Its a TV - its going to spend its entire service life upright!

NO problem....
But you don't want your bowling ball rolling around in the back with it...
And don't let some little kid hold it steady for you either....
I've had both....and the $2000 display panel got damaged beyond repair....Those poor customers...
