The spiritual supermarket, which is infested with these hope-sellers, has done roaring business in every age in almost every country in the world. But unlike we ordinary mortals, these holy men do not have to deliver the goods in this life time. All they have to do is make empty promises, which may or not come true in the life hereafter!

That is another kind of Business wherein the working capital is one's brain and tongue. Learn from somebody or some other book, and repeat it, so that the believers, pay. That is purely business. Beware of the promisors. The real Gurus do not promise anything and will ask the questioner to dissolve his question as answer depends upon the faith and belief. When you or somebody knows it, then those people should be avoided. But what to do?.There are teeming millions. Most of them have some difficulty or the other, Some with money, some with litigation, professional problems, personal problems, problems of the children, the list is endless. In this suffering you cannot expect clarity instead of chaos, common sense instead of begging. So these hundreds and hundreds having no identity of their own, no principles of their own, and no idea as to what is this Guru Business throng to them, and make them richer. The lamb believes the butcher. It is its nature. This has been going on from times immemorial. Once a friend of mine, asked a famous Guru as to whether a cloned Lamb would have a soul. The Guru asked a few days time, and re-visited was out of the place. This is the scientific approach of the so called Gurus. The point is that a layman, or the ordinary Mr. Citizen does not question the bonafides of Gurus, and does not question his faith also. Going to an ashram, and listening lectures in the evening is as good as a walk, or a visit to the nearest pub. All of them are for enjoyment. You have stated that "hereafter". You believe in reincarnation. What is the basis for it. This is due to a misconception that, you have come into this world, and that after you go that this world would be still there. You have a soul and that upon death it will hover here and there and and again take birth. You are not a witness to your birth. Analyse your beliefs first. What is the locus for your thinking.?. What you say is true for most of the religions.. but not all

Religions were created to tame the animal-humans, bring them to discipline, control their sub-human instincts and preapare them for the next evolution of mind

And the more savage the group, the stricter the rules prescribed. the fear, the prizes, the hells and the heavens were inventions to bring this change in the newly evolved humans

unfortunately most of the religions stuck up there itself as they did not do much research into the purpose of life.

religions like hinduism & buddhism, first researched the whole purpose of life and then established the dogams to be followed by different categories.

Many godmen have started their shops on religions... but the true purpose of religion is not defeated.....as the path was never straight.

You are right. That is sick and evil. People who are truly BELIEVERS would never, ever do that. And all I can say is this: 1) There is a day when God will judge them for what they have done. Especially because they LIE and smear God's name in the mud in order to steal!
2) I don't care if those people can't deliver in this lifetime! Of course they can't! They aren't real believers! The only one who I care about is God. If He delivers on what He promises, then that's all that matters. These foolish, wicked people will go on doing what they're doing. And in the end, God will judge them fairly. I would not want to be them on that day.

Its our duty to ask GOD where to place money.We should check people fruits before we give them money.
If people make promises for afterlife than we should compare it with bible to see if it contradicts or accept.
Again we must give money to spread the gospel which is the most important thing to do.
