In a nutshell, a scientist job is to give his best hypothesis on something another scientist has given that completely differs from his own. Would you base your afterlife on science and evidence 100 years ago? if not how can you prove that 100 years from now science and evidence will back up your beliefs now. I'm just saying you are putting faith in men who may be proven wrong.

I've never claimed to have superior intelligence. In fact I think I'm pretty slow most of the time. Regarding compelling evidence for god.. that truly is a tough one I admit.. I would almost always assume forgery (as in the "authenticity" of the shroud of turin) or fakery. We know what illusions magicians are capable of.
Actually I take that back.. I can think of one. Healing an amputee via prayer would be very compelling and would definitely cause me to rethink my atheism. Grow back a human arm or leg via prayer and I will be very impressed.

You are assuming that the existence of evidence would actually cause someone to believe, or not believe in God.
This also assumes that what is considered by you--and by whomever you are presenting evidence to will be accepted by both parties.
Often evidence proves nothing.
Most christians believe in God with absolutely NO 'evidence', do they not?
I believe your it would be more worthwhile for those who believe in God, to simply live their lives--and be concerned about their own lives--trying to live it according to whatever they perceive God to be, and not worry about whether someone else does or doesn't believe in the same things that they do.
What does it really matter?
How is that you know that a or any believe in God is necessary?
How many different beliefs are there when it comes to God? How do you think, feel and/or believe about those who do not believe as you do?
Are they going to "hell" and/or "eternal damnation" because they do not believe as you do--yet they say that they believe in God, but more often than not, even THIS is not good enough, is it?
So, what is the difference between an atheist who does not believe in God and another christian who doesn't believe in God the same way you do?
Regards,

Many things come to mind as knee jerk answers but upon deeper thought however I have to discard them all..
For Instance..
God arriving and saying he is god and preforming miracles.. Then I think I have seen far too many magicians able to perform slight of hand tricks and grand illusions to believe that..
All other ideas are discarded for much the same reason..
The only idea that I haven't been able to discard is dying, there being an afterlife and meeting god on his turf so to speak...
When I die if I am wrong and that is what occurs I am ready and willing to pay any penalties or consequences..
There is nothing I can think of that could occur without me dying that would make me believe any differently than I do now...

well, for those who do not believe in god or any other divine entity it would take something very significant.
lets say for an extreme example that God him self would have to manifest him/her/it self before the masses and then display some sort of divine power such as making a tree turn into an elephant or turn a car into water. because... god in theory could do these things if he wanted.
other things would be actual prophetic apocalyptic recurrences.. such as "fire raining down from the sky" "People turning into pillars of salt" torrential global flooding.
I'm pretty sure the physical manifestation of the devil or other devils ( and i mean devil as depicted as a monster ) on earth would give people enough evidence and reason to believe.
but then again.. the chances of anything like that happening would be about as equal to the entirety of people in the christian religion renouncing their faith.

Geeez... Gimme the tiniest, teeny, weeny bit and let's run it up the flagpole and see - so far I've seen squat that qualifies as *evidence.*
Circular reasoning (Bible - God - God - Bible) doesn't cut it. Peer-review is necessary for "scientific" evidence. ... And I've NOT ONCE seen a claim re "superior intelligence", much less a "majority" - CITE, pls! ... Or was that a lie?
Most are at least intelligent enough to know there's NO real difference in intelligence for any huge swath of humanity for the past ~130,000 years. And based on belief??? Pfffft!
DISAPPOINTED, but UNSURPRISED that you didn't follow through with one iota of evidence in the past few hours.

Atheists are really theists. Subconsciously they accept the evidence God exists. They are just in denial. That is the conclusion of many people who have studied atheists and atheism. I was a Eucharistic Minister for 7 years. I gave communion to the sick and the dying. Never did I encounter a so-called atheist who did not ask for a priest in a life-threatening situation.
Peace and every blessing!

The comment about superior intelligence is irrelevant to your original question.
Atheists demand reasonably direct evidence that leads them to be able to logically conclude that God must exist. But as soon as they believed in God, they would no longer be atheists.

Excuse me...I DO NOT claim to have "superior intelligence" thank you.
I simply can't force myself to believe in something that I can't prove with evidence. My mind is open....let God show himself and find a way to get me to believe. Then I will.
Geez...arrogant snot.

TO ATTEMPT TO BELIEVE IN GOD ONE MUST FIRST HAVE AN OPEN HEART,NO PRE CONCEIVED IDEAS AS TO HOW GOD MIGHT LOOK AND TO BE WILLING TO EXPERIMENT WITH A POWERFUL PERSONAL MANTRA THAT IS AVAILABLE TO ALL REGARDLESS OF ETHNIC, RELIGIOUS (OR NONE) OR RACIAL BACKGROUND.
THE WORD IS HU (AN ANCIENT NAME FOR GOD)
HU IS SUNG SOFTLY ON THE OUTWARD BREATH (SOUNDS LIKE "HUGH THE BOYS NAME) IF OTHERS ARE AROUND YOU MAY DO SO QUIETLY WITHIN. THIS POWERFUL MANTRA SUNG FOR SAY TEN MINUTES ONCE A DAY UPLIFTS OUR VIBRATIONAL LEVEL TO BE MORE ABLE TO TUNE INTO THE INNER SOUNDS OF GOD. MAYBE A SINGLE NOTE OF A FLUTE ,RUNNING WATER THUNDER, BELLS ETC;A SOUND THAT THOSE AROUND YOU CANNOT HEAR. THIS IS HOW GOD (ALSO A VIBRATIONAL BEING) CONNECTS TO WE HUMANS.
SOMETIMES IT MAY BE A BLINDING LIGHT BRIGHTER THAN A THOUSAND SUNS. Be patient it won't happen overnight but you feel inwardly more balanced until that very personal experience of proof enters your being all in the name of unconditional love. TRY IT! IF YOU ARE GAME
NO HARM WILL EVER COME TO YOU FROM THIS WORD

The amount of evidence needed would vary by individual and that evidence would have to be spiritual. No amount of presentation of examples would be sufficient without perception of need.
