How much do basic tattoos cost? I am just a little curious. The one that I want to get is the outline of a woman's figure with long spiraling hair, and she is holding three suspended circles: an apple, a sickle moon, and two dolphins swimming in a small circle. There would probably be like 8-10 different colors, but the only things that are filled in are the three objects. Is it possible to give me a generalization? Thanks!

It will be small.. I only want the woman to be about 4-5 inches and the orbs to be like nickel-sized.

'With that much detail it's gonna have to be 5 to 6 inches at least from top to bottom..size matters... depends what parts of the country you're in... I'm guessing based on what I have roughly 140. -150. The more detail the longer it takes the more money...Make sure you see artist's past work and feel confident they can deliver. I waited(searched) 3 years for an artist with the ability to do one of mine.

The thing that you tattoo novices don't understand about the whole tattoo pricing question is that there is no "international tattoo pricing scale" Okay, the costs are all over the board depending on region of the country, talent of the artist, complexity and composition of the tattoo. You want a price quote, then go see a professional tattoo artist in a clean reputable shop and discuss it with him/her. As for the size you mention, forget it, too small it would just be a blob. Last word about pricing, just remember, you get what you pay for and cheaper IS NOT better.

Depending on where you live. In Qld, Australia most artist's charge between $80 - $120 per hour. I would imagine that it wouldn't take much longer than that from your description so you are probably looking at upto maybe $250, depending on how much detail you are wanting to induce into the design. Generally using more colours doesn't impact on the price just time. The best way to get a good estimate is to either take a drawing into an artist close to you or get them to design one for you and they will be able to advise you of a close estimate.
Hope this helps.

the tattoo you are describing is impossible. for the "orbs" you want they would need to be atleast the size of a half dollar (especially the detail of two dolphins swimming in a circle). such a detailed thing is not possible at the size of a nickel. there is no way for us to know how much that would cost for the tattoo you want because all artists charge differently. you should consult with a tattoo artist to see what they can do for you.

it all depends on where you go. but when it comes to getting a tattoo, you're paying for quality. go to someone that you can trust and will answer all your questions. i have one that is kinda small of a frog it was $40. i also have one of a butterfly on my lower back it was $80. dont go to a brand new shop. go to a shop with some history and that has been there for a while. if its your first tattoo, ask for someone who itsn't new to do it. if the tatto-ist is new then they may press harder than necessary and you may end up with a not so good first tattoo.
Good luck

i would just take the drawing to different places and price shop. you can also check out their artwork to see how good of an artist they are. some tattoo shops charge way too much for basic small tattoos. shop around

It really depends where you go. The bigger your tat is the more it will cost and most tattoo parlors have a set rate for small tats. You just have to ask and see...
