spout off about how closed-minded I am because I believe in God, read the Bible, go to church, etc. That I am stupid for believing in a non-existent entity and for giving money to my church. And that since I can't give you proof that God exists (or at least the proof that you want), then you are right and I am wrong.

My question is -- how does my Catholicism affect your atheism? How does my personal faith and search for the Truth harm your lack of it in any way?

Point # 1__ I am not an athiest.
Point # 2__I don't need to know you personally to believe that you are wrong in your beliefs(not stupid here just wrong).
Point # 3__You are stupid for giving money to a church.
Point # 4__Obviously what you do in your life does not affect my way of life at all! But this is a public Forum, where opinions are sought and given.

Your faith doesn't affect my atheism at all.

The thing is, being an atheist and living in a predominantly Christian country is frustrating. Christians are constantly trying to change the laws to fit their beliefs, they tell us what is right and what is wrong, and stand outside yelling at people and telling them they are going to Hell. Not to mention that the White House is run by Christians and they have most of the power in the US.

This tends to make people bitter. We are constantly told that we are wrong, that we live in a Christian nation and should leave if we don't like it, and we are forced to live by certain laws that are based on the Bible. It's hard to see so many people in the country we love reject evolution and preach intelligent design, deny the rights of others, and choose politicians solely on their beliefs regardless of capability, intelligence, and experience.

This, of course, is not your fault. But I think all of this put together tends to give atheists a bad view of Christianity which makes some people take it out on the Christians who come here. I'm not saying it's right or that we have the right to disrespect Christians, or anyone else of faith, but there is a lot of frustration that comes with living in a theistic nation as an atheist.

I was Catholic no I am an Atheist who hate the Catholic church.

It effects me the fact the the Catholics churches official policy was to move priests who molested children to a different area. To help them not get caught. It bothers me that the church used the donation money to pay of families of molest children to settle out of court and not press charges. So yes i have a serious problem with any one who supports such a organization. I also have a problem with the parents who took the money and did not press criminal charges.

Its not a search for the truth if you settled in your beliefs. I could go on forever why atheism...... but i suggest reading books on its because it not something i can cover. on here.

I tell you the truth. the truth is that even the goverment doesn't believe in any religion. So why should you? they are setting the example. Is that right? the president may go to church every single sunday, but he still governs agencies that trains people to kill and send them out to do that. With all the respect that we should show to our government, he goes to bed with no remorse. what does this tells u? Hey! don't get me wrong I love america. I just wish that many americans shouldn't go to war. Most of the time they die leaving behind a family. Even those people down there...they have family too.

What about the pastor who has a church and pretends that all member should give $$? He will not work. But members has to work their butt off to give. What about the life of the members, does the pastor gives back money? of course not. In returns he talks, talks and talk. I believe in God but not on those men that call themselves god servants. What a servant? He has the latest car, the best house, the easy life by no working and all.

Ok ok, priests don't have these objects but they have been playing with life all the time. You could check the history of the catholic church. They used to torture and kill people. as of today, many priest (not all) are taking advantage of other people life by abusing them different ways.

You are not stupid...one day you will wake up from all this. then you'll realize that is not a lack of it...I suggest for you to read, read, and read. Make sure that u r reading a good version of the bibble. there are many out there. Read on both sides of the coin/issue, then u'll see.

I'm glad you asked this.

The truth is that it does affect my life. And usually in negative ways.

Religious beliefs are behind countless wars and acts of terrorism like 9/11. The 9 million Jews who were killed by the Nazis were singled out by their religion. The anti-thought taught by creationism is finding its way into our school system. The uncountable billions in taxes that are NOT collected from all the religious institutions across the US. The suppression of knowledge thought recorded history. The prejudice (atheists can't hold public office in many states and are not allowed in the boy scouts).

I am not trying to be negative. I am trying to be informative. In the way that people do not notice the odors of their own house, religious people do not notice the influence that their religion has on the world. They take credit for any perceived positive influence and ignore the bad. That is just human nature. I am asking you to be aware that it is not ALL good.

BUt in your way you are saying non-believers are stupid and closed minded. does their atheism affect you chatholicism? Are they really lacking in the truth in their personal oppions? From a true believer you question smacks of the very thing of what these non-believers are spouting, stupidity and close mindednes. Your statement that they are right and you are wrong seethes with insincerity. You should be ashamed and I doubt you'll go to heaven!

It doesn't. Why should you care about what people say about your religion anyways. If you are strong in your religion then nothing that people say should affect you that way. I am not a Christian and I don't care what people say about my religion. It is my choice and I won't waiver from it no matter what they say.

Just keep yourself "open minded"! The danger in believing in an Institution and supporting It, is that you can be "managed" by It, without even you to realize it! Lord Jesus-The-Christ said: "My Kingdom is inside and all around you, not in Temples made of stones and wood. Pick up a stone and you will find Me. Break a piece of wood and I will be with you". GO(O)D-BYE!

I haven't called you any of those things. Your personal search for truth does not concern me.

Your church's position on HIV prevention in Africa does concern me greatly however, and I think it needs to stop.

i wont answer since i totally agree and am not a non-believer. but, i hope people see the difference between a fair and serious question like this versus:

"why are atheists so stupid?"
or
"how come all christians were dropped on their heads as babies?"
