Yeah it's called Starch! Your body...or more particularly your Liver-converts Starch into Glycogen. This is used to power Muscle Contraction and other bodily functions. Any excessive Glycogen that is not in use, will end up being stored and converted back to Fat...and end up being stored on probably the least used areas of your body. It is really a Myth that Fat Causes Fat! That is the principal reasoning behind having a Low-carb Diet! You avoid things like Baked Goods,Potatoes,Rice,Bread etc. You can eat all the "Fat Free" foods you want, they will not necessarily help you to reduce weight!

Its not just the bread its also what you put on it ie butter, margarine etc. Bread is a high carbohydrate food, which means it is relatively energy dense. Too much energy dense food will make you fat - eating bread in a sensible way wont make you fat. Eating too much bread will. Choosing a high fibre bread that is low GI will fill you up longer meaning you wont need to eat as much bread to feel full.

It has to do with the type of bread, how much of it you eat and what sort of calorie laden toppings you eat with it. Obviously a cucumber sandwich on whole grain bread with a little Dijon mustard is not the same a a giant white bread hoagie with 3 meats, 2 cheeses and mayonnaise.

Your basic bread is fat free. It's the carbs in the bread that has everyone thinking you'll get fat if you eat it. If you get daily exercise, you don't really have to worry about your carbs. It's when you just lay around and don't exercise will the pounds start to pile on. A low carb diet is unhealthy. Your body needs carbs. So just east sensible and exercise and you won't need to worry about the carbs.

um,

bread doesnt make you fat. its all that f**king mayonnaise and dead cow thigh meat and grease and sour cream and butter and provolone cheese slices that you add in between them.

not to mention the extra large serving of grease fried potato puffs and 36 oz dr. pepper you down with them.

thats why youre fat, silly.
