it sometimes flares up that way.
i seem to be worse lately, and i was thinking perhaps it's the heat, or humidity.
i also am having lots of pain in my legs, to the point that when i go out, i can hardly walk and have to sit down. so i've been resting a lot. i put ace bandages on my knees even. the pain was worse there.
i find that shopping causes the most pain and in my legs. i think it's too much exercise, and weight on the legs when you have fibromyalgia. you know how when you are shopping, you walk slowly, are standing straight and stop and starting a lot, and the blood doesn't circulate too well compared to regular walking. plus the bending the legs to bend down to get something, or look at it in the shop. that really gets to me. i have to ask whoever is with me to help me up.
i put deep heat oinment on before i go out now, or even while at home on spots that are painful. plus i really limit the time i spend on my feet. i force myself to go home even, to avoid the pain.
i try not to use pain relievers, because i was using ibuprofen, which was helping. however, i had to go to the doctor about a month ago because my stomach was agony, and so sore. and it was from the ibuprofen.
so now the doctor told me to take paracetamol, but not any NSAIDs, that includes aspirin. That freaked me out, thinking not being able to use those.
So I try to not take pain relievers unless desperate, and use deep heat, take paracetamol. Use a hot water bottle on back or tummy.
And take it very easy. Don't exercise everyday. Every other day is better.
Hydrotherapy (physiotherapy in a heated pool) has worked the best for me. I mean amazingly well. I can't find anywhere to do it right now though.
There is an IBS, Fibromyalgia forum online that's good.
I'll post it when I find the URL.
here: there's a fibromyalgia section on here too

I just thought of a couple of other things I do. That may help you, or others. I have a rocking chair, which eases the pain. It takes the weight and pressure off certain areas, and gives a little exercise when pushing back and forth. Eases the tight feeling.
I also have a large exercise ball, like the pilates ones, and I simply lay down flopped over that. Roll around a bit. Nothing strenous.
Also, I take Clonazepam at night, as prescribed by my doctor.
(also known as Klonopin) It calms me down, it's a sedative.
Doesn't always get me to sleep, but it stops the tossing and turning, tension, and such.
I have stopped wearing bras, I wear loose clothing. I am careful about what bags I carry, usually, I don't carry one.
I went to an Osteopath for a while, it helped somewhat. But only for maybe a day afterwards, not long term. Also, sometimes, I'd get terrible headaches after going to the Osteopath.
Actually, there's loads of things I do each day, but they are habit now, and I just do them to avoid pain mostly.
When I go shopping, I get a trolley (cart) and I lean on it, so I'm putting less pressure, weight on my legs, back. I put things I'm carrying, my coat, and such in the trolley.
I just discovered these things mostly myself, no doctor has ever told me these things. I think we all need to get together more to share some information on this!

Fibermyagia is hard to diagnose. My father has it and some days he is great and for no reason what so ever, he is in pain. The soft tissue is mostly effected. Pain in the legs, arms, shoulder, neck is very common. Many days it impossible to get proper sleep. He has found aspirin to help, with a prescribed anti-inflammatory drug ( decofinac ) not sure of the right spelling there.
You have to watch for any stomach problems when taking these drugs. You do have to keep the muscle tone up by exercise. This in itself can cause discomfort.

I have Arthritis and Fibromyagia. I found a a mattress topper egg crate style on my bed excellent. I adore hot showers and steam rooms, or sauna. My Doc has me on 2mgs of Valium at night to 'relax' my muscles and that is a God send. You have to be aware of the Fibro 'Trigger Points' all over the body and then make sure that those areas are never 'touched' by anything like bra strap, tight clothing, handbag strap and so on. If you can stop the trigger points from triggering, like the mattress topper on the bed, then life improves. Good picture of trigger points:

Good Luck.

Due to the nature of your condition, your symptoms are of a subjective nature. So what may be normal for you may not be normal for another person with the same diagnosis. What would be helpful is to know what other disease process you may have? Diabetes? Over Weight? Arthritis?
