It is normal to feel the pain when you start lifting weights. Your action causes micro level strains in your muscles which get repaired while you rest. The repair phase is peculiar because the repaired muscles are a little stronger than the previous stage.
But you must take care that you don't cause injury to them. Don't push too hard.

Yeah, go ahead and wrap it up and keep ice on it from time to time for about 10-15 minutes. Lots of tendons there. Mr A.D.D may have strained or bruised one of them. Best wishes! Um, stay away from that dude and see a doctor if it gets worse'

Your exerciseing all those muscles in your hands.
There burning too!
In time the burn goes away, untill you increase the reps or the weight.
It's an on going thing with everyone.
If the pain goes away,,,It's because the hand muscles have caught up.

Could be you have developed CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME (Yahoo's Health encyclopedia has a long article on this, telling the symptoms, causes, etc). It can be very painful, and can occur in the fingers, wrist , and even up to your elbow. It causes tingling, etc (like your hand has gone to sleep) because of pressure on this nerve.

try doin some curls with your wrists and light weigths, this will strenghtin your wrists and your hands, you will find that u can lift heavier weights in time...i find gloves are very good, get leather weightlifting gloves, u won't feel any pain then.
