How many hp? If you're talking 20hp or so maybe. Anything less no.
""Another group in Illinois (www.wrightredux.org) is flying a full size reproduction of the 1903 Flyer, but it has a 20 hp lawnmower engine taking it out of the replica class. Even with the added horsepower they find that the Flyer won’t take off without significant wind, so the replica flight group at Kill Devil Hill will be needing a return of the classic winds which helped make Orville’s first flight possible.""

The amount of lift provided by a 1, 5 or even 10HP motor would not be enough to lift the motor, let alone a hundred pound person. Sorry, sounds like a fun project. You MIGHT be able to make kind of a semi-hemisphere dome for the blades, use longer and lighter weight blades, and make kind of a flying saucer which would get a foot or two off the ground. I don't think it would have enough lift to get much higher than that. Be kinda fun to work out, though.

The engine of a lawnmower isn't designed for operation with the shaft horizontal, and it doesn't have nearly the horsepower you need, anyway, unless you are using something like helium for lift.
You might be interested in some of these sites, though.

The Wright brothers managed with a 12hp engine. Now, it wasn't much of an aeroplane by today's standards, but you should be able to get off the ground without too much fuss.
