In my opinion, you're just on the right track. It's okay to question the teachings of the Bible.
You seem to have so much in common with the Unitarian Christians. They also believe that the works of the Bible are inspired by God, but were written and edited by humans and therefore subject to human error.

You say you believe in the bible but then contradict yourself and say you "know" that not everything in it is true. Really? That is a problem for you, then. Because where do you get your information about who God is except from the bible. And, how do you know what to judge is true and what is not?
I suggest you find a good bible teaching church and look into these things. You will be much more at peace when you discover you can indeed trust all His word as true.

What faith? You just admitted not everything is true in the Bible but if you really read the Bible and didn't just listen to others you would know that everything in the Bible is true and their is a world of knowledge and information but it is all true....Read the Bible and get real faith ! If you read and believe what you read you have faith and faith as Jesus said is like a mustard seed even though it is small it will grow and there will be branches for sharing. I hope you read the Bible

I don't think it is surprising that you are struggling with faith, since as you say you are questioning the teachings of God, and you say that not everything in the Bible is true, but by what standard are you judging this to be so?If you are listening to other people yes, then, even if, you refute the Bible you are not thinking for yourself the only way you truly think for yourself is by reading the Bible and thinking about what you read, to see that things are so or are not so, not by secondhand information, for how do you know that who you listen to has it right in the first place, if you don't read it for yourself? If you did read it for yourself you would know that the Bible really is true, unless of course again you listen to a slanted view and want to believe that view instead. What you need to do is to study the Bible, to really know wether what it says is worth considering.

One of the many definitions of faith is "belief that is not based on proof" I grew up a non-believer till the age of 27. I am 31 now and a student of Islam. Before that I tried to learn about all the different ways to serve God (Allah) since the day I changed my views. I chose Islam after all else failed. Islam teaches to observe the Torah and the Gospels (Bible) and teaches you to distinguish what in those revelations have been altered. Let me give you my personal thoughts. Every day is jihad. Now jihad is misrepresented by the media and unfortunately "extremist". But what Jihad literally means is to "struggle in the way of God" or "to struggle to improve ones self and/or society". So everyday is jihad, no matter what what religion you chose to serve GOD (Allah) with. Peace be upon you and may you be blessed with the knowledge you need for that peace.

I think it is important to question what you believe. Then when you find the answer to that question, you feel more convicted about why it is true. Everything in the Bible is true. If you are confused about something, check out this website:
http://www.gotquestions.org
This site really helped me with a few questions I was wondering about. The site answered basically everything I was wondering about, and points to Bible verses if you need them. The search engine is pretty good, but if you can't find something, you can even e-mail them for answers. Hope this helps!

I don't know how you were raised. Especially in waht you were raised believing. If you are like many Christians who were raised believing that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, you had it coming.
If it isn't enough that the Bible is merely the inspired word of God, then you never really had an accurate view of Christianity itself. If inspired by God isn't enough for you, then you had nothing accurate to value as a basis for belief.

At least your thinking logically.
I don't think your self hating, I think your just starting to think rationally.
Blind faith is the worst thing one can have.
I questioned my faith just a few months ago, through much research, I finally came to the conclusion of which religion I want to follow.
I chose the most logical one and the one with the most proof.

You are emerging into the light of day. Faith is the ultimate evil: it is the deliberate rejection of the essence of one's humanity -- the ability to apply logic to evidence and draw useful conclusions. It follows that the proper course is to forget faith, and examine the evidence, if you can find any, to support your particular beliefs. Then, do the science thing, and let the evidence lead you -- as it must, for there is no other avenue to truth.

Yo, Big Ryan,
Don't know whether this'll help but the famous physicist Albert Einstein discovered while reading his science books, that "much in the Bible could not be true."
Anyway, good to hear from ya again,
Your buddy,
The Chief
