Me, personally, I try to be accepting, but when I'm not (and I'm not a good judge of that so I'll rely on you for it), it's because I live in a Christian dominated society and I get really annoyed by it sometimes. See, it's not really acceptable to be anything but Christian in Kansas. You kind of get resentful when they try to enforce creationism and "Jesus is the reason for the season" stuff in public and government goings on, you know?

Because Christians are not accepting of other religions. I can see how people become angry at Christians. I have been up set by some of the remarks they have made on answers. Christianity is not the law, but it is pushed as the only way. I turned away from the catholic church because of the close mindedness, the judging, and the fear of hell. I try not to disrespect Christians, but I really have to try hard not to stoop to their level when I am told that I lost my way and I am sinning or my believes are false. I don't need to be told that I need to give it another try. Respect my believes we all have the same god anyway.

There should be no compulsion in any religion, it is detestable to force one to believe. To believe, is a God given choice to Mankind. We all need to make that decision on our own in our hearts. There are three books available widely that most people follow on earth, The Torah, The Bible and The Quran.

Each one of us has a duty to God to explore what each of these says and figure out what the truth is.

I have accepted the Qruan as the Truth from our Lord and I believe in the Torah and the Bible and they are all the same messsage, the only different is that the Quran cannot be changed due to the protection of God. I think the Christians have the most knowledge of faith but their belief that the Holy Spirit and Jesus are God is wrong, that's the biggest issue I have with Christianity. There is No god but God, that is where faith begins, everything after that is secondary.

I respect Christians right to believe what they wish to believe.

Unfortunately there are Christians who "believe" that the entire country should be organized to accomodate their beliefs, and that I have no respect for at all.

As soon as Buddhists start agitating for mandatory meditation in schools, or pagans demand that the Nine Noble Virtues be posted in every courthouse, then those religions will experience the same contempt that is directed against some Christians.

I try not to be mean or angry toward anyone, including Christians, which is one reason why I recently posted a question challenging both pagans and Christians to say 2 good and positive things about the others' spiritual path, and do you know what one Christian named TEACHERINTHECLASS wrote? She wrote that I was trying to validate my beliefs and that I was fishing for compliments, and that there IS NO OTHER GOOD SPIRITUAL PATH THAN HERS, Christianity.

I do not take such nonsense lightly, and I was not being mean or angry toward her or anyone in my question, I was offering a sincere hand of "let's all get along" and that's what I get tossed back at me. So, the mean and angry people are on both sides here.

As for why anyone might feel mean and angry toward Christians, the main reason in my opinion is that it says it is the one true path, and it is not!

Speaking as a Christian myself--its really very simple. People generally are at least as accepting of Christians as the followers of other religions.

But that's real Christians. Not the right-wing cults (e.g. the Moral Majority, followers of Pat Robertson, and similar fake Christians). These people are intolerant bigots, preaching hate and lies and not the teachings of Christ.

They are attacked and condemned--not for being Christians (they are not)--but because they claim the Name and neither speak or act as Christians.

Well, for starter you could catch up with history. For more recent information just read the Christian Right campaign.
Islam seem to be the religion to despise at the present moment.
I agree with you, we ALL should learn to respect other people's believes and stop sending to hell those that do not think just like us.

I respect your right to believe in any old thing you want.
But can you and your kind respect my right to believe?
It's the christians who are trying to force me to live their way by enacting laws for me to follow based on their religion not the other religions.
When the other religions out there start trying to legislate their beliefs into my laws, I will not stand idly by at take that either.
Peace

I have never had a buddhist call me obscene names and tell me I was going to burn in hell because I didn't believe in the same things they did.

One afternoon I was at my Dad's grave site when a couple of Christians came over and asked what church my dad went to. When I told them he was atheist they started screaming at me telling me my dad was going to burn in hell and asking me if my dad was a f-a-g-g-o-t and if that was why he was an atheist. It is precisely Christians like this that make people dislike Christians so much.

The other thing is Christians usually seem to preach one thing and at the same time do something completely different. Most people find such blatant hypocricy objectionable. I know I do.

I'm mean and angry towards all nonsense if it threatens to spread through propaganda.

I respect any believe if sincerely held and kept individual.

You can believe in the second coming of the profit Zacquwa as long as you do not expect me to.
