Cold sores are a form of herpes simplex. The bumps in the back of your tongue are completely unrelated. It's a holiday weekend so you're going to be stuck with the cold sore but next time call your doctor for a prescription of Valtrex. use some anbesol, camphor, abreva or anything else over the counter for cold sores.

Cold sores are very sore and tingly before they erput and once they erput they ooze a clear fluid before they crust up. If this is what happened with the corner of you mouth then yes you have a cold sore. The bumps on your tongue are normal and have nothing to do with the cold sore aka herpes.

Put a little hydrogen peroxide on the spots and swish with it and the bumps and soreness will go away.
