Jesus' return to earth. Does this mean he has been roaming the earth all this time or that he will be resurrected?

Not Biblical...
There are MANY extra-Biblical stories about the soldiers immediately involved in Jesus' crucifixion, but none of them seem old enough to make it likely that they were written during the first century. The earliest Christian writers ("Church Fathers") didn't discuss them that we have preserved.
Translation: It is VERY doubtful that the stories are authentic. BUT Scripture DOES tell us that EVERYONE will see Jesus.

In fact the Bible says nothing about the person (centurion or soldier of lesser rank) who pierced Jesus side- as to whether he would witness Jesus' return to earth.
The likelihood is you've somehow spliced Jesus' comments about John (who was present at the crucifixion) with the man who pierced Jesus' side. John 21:21-23
Hope this helps!

I could not find a reference to His witnessing Jesus return.
Matthew 27:54
Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, "Truly this was the Son of God!"
Mark 15:39
When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"
Luke 23:47
Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying, "Certainly this man was innocent."
Mark 15:44
Pilate wondered if He was dead by this time, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether He was already dead.
Possibly John 19:34
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
These are the only ones I found regarding him.

The Roman soldier who pierced the side of Jesus with his spear was named Longinus. The spear head, through out history has been a sought after item, not just for antiquity collectors, but mostly it is a artifact that contains the blood of Jesus and is believed to hold mystical or magical powers. It was thought that if one possessed the spear of Longinus, they would be able to control the world. A few who quested for it were, Napoleon and Hitler. It is not mentioned in my knowledge that Longinus witnessed the resurrected Jesus.
There is nothing that I have read that claims that Longinus roams the earth. He crossed over as soon as he died. There is really no time, so when we die I feel certain that it is a type of Resurrection day for us. We go through a process when we die and eventually end up where we are suppose to be based on out spiritual energy. Like attracts like. Good or not so good. Perhaps the words "dead in christ " are those resurrected who rejected Him or his Father and will be judged finally on Resurrection day. Those before Jesus who died, were taken to heaven when Jesus was assended.

Actually, there is no such reference in the Bible. The reference to the Centurion says:
Matthew 27:54
54 When the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were terrified and said, “This man really was God’s Son!”
We aren't told which soldier pierced Jesus' side:
John 19:34
34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out.
It does say about the Apostle John:
John 21:20-23
20 So Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them. [That disciple] was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray You?”
21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord—what about him?”
22 “If I want him to remain until I come,” Jesus answered, “what is that to you? As for you, follow Me.”
23 So this report spread to the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not tell him that he would not die, but, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?”

Jesus resurrected 2000 years ago and will return one day. The centurion made sure that Jesus died at the cross by piercing his side. He believed that Jesus is the son of God when water poured out of Jesus' side.

there is the scripture it dose not say he will wittness Jesus return to earth..
John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
John 19:35 And he that saw [it] bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
:36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Edit: Rev 1:7 is talking about the non believers who lied on Jesus and caused his Crucifiction, Today there is people who openly mock him and crucify him afresh with there unbelief and sin...Hbr 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put [him] to an open shame ...so maybe them too.
commentary says: The people who were guilty of His crucifixion will be aghast. at his return.

He is the same Centurian found in Acts 10! His name is Cornelius and became a convert to Cristianity. Matthew Chapters 27-28. He became a historian and much of his writings about Jesus and Christianity early on are found in the Roman Historical Documents.
