My housemate eats very loudy, he slurps up a roast dinner as one would slurp soup. Licks his plate clean, eats so fast you'd think he hadnt eaten for weeks, its so bad I leave the room come dinner time!
How can I change this without seeming rude?

The true test of good manners is being able to overlook the complete lack thereof in others.

Just eat in another room sweetie. If he asks, tell him nicely that you are not used to people eating that way, but don't volunteer it unless he asks. If he is an adult, he knows this behavior is odd unless he was raised in a cave.

You can't really change your roommates, that's why they are so hard to live with. You can mention that you are distracted by his loud eating habits, but don't be surprised if he doesn't change.

You can't-just continue to avoid him when it's meal time.

You probably can't change him. Ignore it.

Ask yourself if you have any habits that bother him, too.
