It's the feast of Pentecost, where the apostles - and the rest of humanity, if it chooses to accept it - received the gift of the Holy Spirit.

So for you, who is the Holy Spirit? What does s/he do? And how does s/he act in your life?

No right or wrong answers here; just curious to see what people think.

For me the Holy spirit is the spirit of God which gaurds, and guides me in my daily life. It's the good since when things aren't right, it's wanting to do good not bad, it's wanting to love not hate, without the holy spirit in my life I would never stay on the path of right vs. wrong. Have you ever been with you friends while they were being mean to someone and you didn't want to participate and felt bad for the person they were being mean to,thats the holy spirit guiding you in whats right. Thats what I believe the Holy spirit is, and how he works in my life

The Holy Spirit is a Councelor that Christ sends to us, to become within us and part of us... To me picture this.... take a cup fill it with water, that is a metaphor the cup being us and the water being the holy spirit... now drop that cup full of water in an aquarium full of water, that is the baptism of the spirit... Just completely enveloped by Him.

I recieved the Holy sprit when I got saved... I was so sinful and Christ left the Holy spirit in me. I couldn't change everything at one time... it was too overwhelming...so I let go and let God, I changed the things I could as I learned of the changes I needed to make....but praise be to God, the Holy spirit has done some work in me too... there are things I just don't do anymore that was sinful and it was Gods grace through him that made the change... He is my connection completely to God...

I hope this helped. Sometimes its hard for me to put things into words. Each morning I pray for God to fill me to the brim with the Holy spirit (or I try to remember too).

The Holy Spirit, what can i say about the precious Holy Spirit? Yes i have accepted Him, and i love Him dearly. Who is He to me? He is what the bible told me He would be...

He is my Friend, my Comforter, my Strenght, my Teacher, my Encourager, my Guide, He helps me pray, understand the things of God, He always points me to Jesus and teaches me about what Jesus is like.

I honestly believe i could not know God, without recieving the Holy Spirit. He is amazing, He acts as my immediate help when i have a question or decision to make.. when i have no time to pray about it coz the decision needs to be made immediately (like at work) i turn to the Holy Spirit who prompts me what to do according to the word.

What a friend ive found!

The Holy Spirit is part of the Holy Trinity and the Spirit of God. However, to fully understand it (like most religious matters) it takes years of studying the scriptures.

good luck.

The Holy Spirit is not a who but what. The Holy Spirit is the active force or power of God that he accomplishes his will with.

I think of the Holy Spirit as being that feeling, in the chest, that tells you God is near. The Holy Spirit is that whisper in the pain that God is near. The Hloy Spirit is the comfort in the dark, and the shoulder to cry on. But in one sentence, I would call the Holy Spirit my direct line to God.

“Holy Spirit,” the so-called third Person of the Trinity, this is not a person but God’s active force. John the Baptizer said that Jesus would baptize with holy spirit, even as John had been baptizing with water. Hence, in the same way that water is not a person, holy spirit is not a person. (Matthew 3:11) What John foretold was fulfilled when, following the death and resurrection of Jesus, holy spirit was poured out on his followers gathered in Jerusalem. The Bible says: “They all became filled with holy spirit.” (Acts 2:4) Were they “filled” with a person? No, but they were filled with God’s active force. Thus the facts make clear that the Trinity is not a Bible teaching. Actually, long before Jesus walked the earth gods were worshiped in groups of three, or trinities, in places such as ancient Egypt and Babylon.

Explaining the nature of God, the Bible clearly states: “God is a Spirit.” (John 4:24) A spirit has a form of life that differs greatly from ours, and it is invisible to human eyes. (John 1:18) There are invisible spirit creatures as well. They are angels “the sons of the true God

The word “spirit” is also used in the Bible in another sense. Addressing God in prayer, the psalmist said: “If you send forth your spirit, they are created.” (Psalm 104:30) This spirit is not God himself but a force that God sends forth, or uses, to accomplish whatever he wishes. By means of it, God created the physical heavens, the earth, and all living things. His spirit is called holy spirit. God used his holy spirit to inspire the men who wrote the Bible. (2 Peter 1:20, 21) Hence, the holy spirit is the invisible active force that God uses to fulfill his purposes.

Holy spirit pours forth from Jehovah in limitless supply. It is God’s power in action. In fact, at Genesis 1:2, the Bible refers to it as God’s “active force.” The original Hebrew and Greek words that are rendered “spirit” may, in other contexts, be translated “wind,” “breath,” and “blast.” According to lexicographers, the original-language words suggest an invisible force in action. Like wind, God’s spirit is invisible to our eyes, but its effects are real and discernible.

A comparison of Bible texts that refer to the holy spirit shows that it is spoken of as ‘filling’ people; they can be ‘baptized’ with it; and they can be “anointed” with it. None of these expressions would be appropriate if the holy spirit were a person.

Jesus also referred to the holy spirit as a “helper, and he said that this helper would “teach,” “bear witness,” “speak,” and ‘hear.’ (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 16:13) It is not unusual in the Scriptures for something to be personified. For example, wisdom is said to have “children.” (Luke 7:35) Sin and death are spoken of as being kings. (Rom. 5:14, 21) While some texts say that the spirit “spoke,” other passages make clear that this was done through angels or humans. (Acts 4:24, 25; 28:25, not only the spirit but also “the water and the blood” are said to ‘bear witness.’ So, none of the expressions found in these texts in themselves prove that the holy spirit is a person.

The correct identification of the holy spirit must fit all the scriptures that refer to that spirit. With this viewpoint, it is logical to conclude that the holy spirit is the active force of God. It is not a person but is a powerful force that God causes to emanate from himself to accomplish his holy will.

The Day of Pentecost in Acts: 2

He is a teacher, he will teach you all things and whatsoever he hears the Father say, that will he teach you also
He leads guides, comforts, speaks to me in my spirit so I know what is the right thing to do, protects me from all harm and danger, shows me things to come, bears witness with my spirit that we are the sons and daughters of God
