I dont know how many times I have to stress this point people. Only about 5 or 6 companies make ALL of the flat panel tvs in the entire world. Samsung, Hitachi, LG and Olevia are 4 of them. The others are companies nobody has even heard of. Thats right folks....a company you never heard of may most likely be making your tv and then slapping the Sharp name on it. In fact Samsung even makes there own panels (the big square glass part). Only 3 companies in the entire world make the actual panel. These companies build the tvs to the specs of the brand name sellers. Its usually a software spec. Tvs are just as good at Walmart as they are from places like Tweeter or Best Buy or Circuit City.

BRAND NAME BRAND NAME BRAND NAME......

That's all you need is a GOOD BRAND NAME....

Yes, Walmart sells RCA, and Toshiba and Sanyo......
Those are brand names.....

VIORE, ILO, HAIER, and OLEVIA.....those are SCARY and no parts / no service on them.....

BEST BANG for the buck.....Look at Hitachi's $900 Projection TV set....1080i High Def TV
Model 51F59
Or go with 57F59 or the gigantic 65F59

Sure it's a projection, sure you can't hang it on a wall.....but that technology has ALL the bugs worked out on it (for the past 30 years)

It still takes up the same space as your wall-hugger does (where you gonna put the Cable box, DVD, Amp etc ?? On a stand....)

Plasma is ok, but to hide the wiring and hide the DVD and Cable boxes you end up cutting a 4 inch square hole in the wall and another hole near the devices, and you may have to drill holes thru studs if they aren't directly above/below each other on the wall....

Of course, you can buy the TV stand and the unit will take up the same space as the projection TV....
But you'll also save $1500, you'll have more reliable technology than plasma, the repair cost will be around $300 instead of $900, and the BEST thing.....

It will have JUST as high resolution as the very expensive 1080P units out there.....

That's why I bought the Hitachi....
And you can take that $1500 you saved and invest in a Dolby 5.1 or 6.1 amp, AND also get the Toshiba HDA2 High Def DVD player which has a $100 rebate on it this month...just saw a commercial for it on TV....($299 total after rebate!)

That is the Best bang for the buck.....

I would buy a 42" Panasonic Plasma. Excellent picture and very good quality.

Those sets are pure garbage. Purchase one of the following:

Sony for LCD.
Mitsubishi for DLP.
Pioneer or Panasonic for Plasma.

I hope that you enjoy your new set.
