I've been known to do both. I'm ashamed to say it, but I think I have probably more often given in and given up. But, I'm glad to say that the very last time life knocked me down, I DID get up and go on, and I succeeded! I have been sick with physical illness as well as depression, and I had gotten way behind on my studies, had missed many classes, and was afraid I was failing. I honestly almost dropped out of school at the last minute. But I decided, no, I will try even if I fail. I was inspired by Martina McBride's latest song called "Anyway" which is based on a saying of Mother Theresa's. You can build something, and the next day they may come and tear it down, but build it anyway. I heard that song, and I decided, "I may fail, but I will study anyway. I may fail at writing this paper, but I am going to write it anyway." And so I stayed in there. And I graduated, with straight A's!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it.
After this experience, I think I have learned that I should never give in!

GET UP and GO ON. It's really hard when life knocks you down but if you give in and give up it'll take you a long time to get up out of that hole you allowed yourself to fall in.

a mixture of both...
sometimes i give up...
for things i can never change or beyond my control..
then i go on...
sometimes i give in..
i am human, my frailties makes me humble...
then i go on...
but mostly i get up..
we are all in this Life together,
on times things drag me lower than i can handle..
someone always come along to help me out..
& i always do the same... i never let others stay down for a long time.
besides, some situtations in life we cant really get up right away...
we need time to cope up, to re-evalutate & regain composure..
then i go on....
that's all that matters..
we all have to move on.....

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Then give up before you make a fool of yourself.
