I am a Christian and I really enjoy Harry Potter. It is fiction. If you are strong in your faith, you can handle reading things that do not mesh with your religious beliefs. It is like the Da Vinci Code...just fiction!!

Looking forward to the book, but not particularly excited about it, as the series has been growing so "dark" (in mood, not in glorifying evil or anything like that).
My church has not burned the books or advocated anyone doing so.
I have, personally, burned a book (not Harry Potter) which I felt was very evil, concentrating on "bad" witchcraft (which Harry Potter does not, though certainly it contains references to evil magic users as part of its plot). I did this AFTER reading the book and ascertaining for sure what sort of witchcraft was being referred to.
The Harry Potter books do not deal with Wicca, or with Satan worship, or with supernatural evil beings (like Sauron in the Lord of the Rings, who Tolkien clearly indicated was a demon), and as such, I don't think they are any more dangerous than the Wizard of OZ series (remember those books?) -- 14 books by L. Frank Baum and 14 books by R. P. Thomson, plus several others, all with many plot references to witchcraft and wizardry, all relatively harmless.

"Are you looking forward to the upcomming 7th Harry Potter Book?"
Not really. I haven't read one of those books. I don't have time for novels. But the movies I like . . . er , most of them anyway.

"does your church have book burnings, or do you like Harry Potter?"
I don't burn books. Yes, I like Harry Potter.

I love Harry Potter and I have book 7 on order already.

I think there are more Christian themes in the book than Wiccan. The magic is the vehicle, not the message.

I do think the movies shouldn't be seen by young children because of the amount of danger and violence. I can't believe little kids watch the movies. But other than that, I think they're great.

Well, we could pick on harry potter, but then we'd have to pick on erogan, merlin..and so on. I think that harry potter does encourage witchcraft... of course it does. Don't think they won't go to the local library and go online and look into spells etc.

The world is so dark right now, there is so much hopelessness... when we encourage kids that they can make a "spell" or wish and make it better then they lose hope in time...

God is the miracle maker... the one and only.. Ephisians 2:8 says For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is a gift of God...

Children need to be taught the real hope... and since it is so hard to get their attention anyways... I hate it that they can get their attention pulled into such a hopeless direction. its just a waste of precious time we have to get to them before they are dragged down by this emptiness of a world.

I'm not the biggest Harry Potter fan, so I'm not personally anticipating it. But I'm glad that millions of kids (and adults) are looking forward to it. It warms my heart to think of kids reading.
My church doesn't have book burnings, and no church I would consider attending would ever burn a single book. I shudder to think of that.

My church does not dictate what I read, I have a mind of my own, a good church and/or religion does not tell you what to read, or what to watch, they teach you morals and how to love God and how to walk in his footsteps, they don't tell you that you can't have an immagination or enjoy some reading. I happen to love Harry Potter, my children love it and I am really looking forward to the book and the movie this summer.

Since I feel Harry Potter is fiction, yes I am looking forward to it.

In as much as book burning, sorry our church is not Nazi based.

In fact, HP Parties have been held by our youth. It teaches them good over evil and what FICTION versis the BIBLE is.
