What did those people do to deserve that?

Some of you think that I’m making fun of those with Down’s Syndrome. I assure you that I’m not. I just don’t see how an omniscient, omnipotent, loving, and merciful God could let people be born with such a condition. They certainly did nothing to deserve it. It doesn’t sound like “intelligent design” to me.

One thing you need to remember when you see the words "intelligent design" here is that most people have poor typing skills.

What they mean to say is "unintelligent design." The lack of the first two letters should be viewed as a typo.

Humanity and the world in general are obviously full of flaws. No truly intelligent being would ever design such a place.

God designed every specific person for a many specific reasons, and although I obviously do not know that reason, for God does indeed work in mysterious ways, that person will touch other people's lives in different ways, and those people may not even realise it, but in the end, there are countless ways the person with Downs Syndrome affected the the surrounded people, be it through the care they gave, the affection they had, or some other reason.

I hope that helped.

God did not create a perfect world. In fact, God could have created a better world (St. Thomas Aquinas). God created this world "in a state of journeying." The more perfect exists alongside the less perfect. Nature has both constructive and destructive forces. Physical good will always be mixed with physical evil until creation reaches perfection.

Peace and blessings!

"Down's Syndrome", like any other defect or disease, is the results of something called "sin". When a person disobediences God it has physical and mental affects that can cause disease in the person themself, or be passed on to their children, grandchildren, etc. For example, disobeying the dietary principles can let to cancer, heart attacks, obesity, etc.

This is not the result of "intelligent design", but of mankind's as a group and each man as an individual to disobey the Designer.

Suffering is a funny thing....

It never ceases to amaze me how when I have met people who have accepted their sufferings, how at peace and happy they are.

I only wish I could have the strength, courage and faith to accept the small sufferings I endure as well as they have. I am continuously in awe of those and admire those who forge through their day in the face of trial, be it they have Down's syndrome, cancer, or whatever suffering. They have a courage most of us could only hope to attain.

I believe their suffering is a blessing... for us all.

If you're going to presuppose God "intelligent design", then you won't mind walking yourself through the rest of the story.
Sin has cursed this world and has resulted in all things imperfect. God's creation was perfect. Man's disobedience has brought us everything from the sin nature to disease and death. Downs is not God's doing.

Nice try though.

My granddaughter has Down Syndrome, and she's doing just fine, thank you! Sweetest person I've ever met. God knows exactly what He's doing. For you to ask, "What did those people do to deserve that?" just shows who the real retard is!

All part of the "master plan". You see, by claiming His ways are too mysterious for us to understand, he gets out of taking responsibility for his actions.
