No and I not sure if that's even legal

to those above that say if you are in any way related, then no: if you go back far enough, then EVERYONE is a distant cousin of each other.

Going back to the original question: to me a 3rd or 4th cousin is about the demarcation line of date/don't date. If you kind of grew up together and are a lot closer in sibling sort of way, then that's a bit shady to me. but if you just met, I'm not opposed

It is perfectly lawful to marry a 3rd cousin in every state of the United States, and there is no greater likelihood of genetic problem than if you married a stranger. It is not sick, and is done all the time.

I used to date a 6th cousin pretty heavy, and one of my first cousins was such a marvelous dancer that I would always rather go to a dance with her than with anyone else in my high school. She was also a dream on a pair of ice skates. She married a West Point grad who dances like a pregnant yak in a kicking contest. Never saw him on the ice, but can imagine it.

Ok, it IS completely legal, but judging from the responses you're getting it's not sosially acceptable. I have no clue why anyone would care and judge who you or anyone else feel like dating, but.

I for one see no problem with it. It's none of my business either. "Prepares for the thumbs down" ... geez

Third or fourth cousin is far enough removed to have any icky connotations. Go ahead.

Who keeps track of their 4th cousins! I may have dated one and know nothing about it.

3rd and 4th go far enough back that I don't see it was a problem.

Yea. 100 years ago people were marrying their first cousins.

Well, I have a couple of cousins that did it. I feel a little awkward about them but they seem ok.

Hmm. How far removed?
I would guess, no. Especially if one of their grandparents and one of yours are siblings.
