the scripture says that the only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

one day i was thinking on this and doing a bible study about it, and i came to understand, that it is speaking to those who claim to be living for God, but really are living for themselves, they are not doing the Will of God, but their own will.

Jesus gave us the examples to follow, Jesus was always talking about The Father, and doing the Father's will.
Jesus said that he could do nothing of himself, but came only to do the will of the Father.

Jesus said that on that day of judgment that many will say > Lord Lord we did many things in your name, BUT - He will say to them, get away from Me you who work iniquity.

So the blasphemy is those who claim to be living for God, but are living selfishly under their own will.

The concept that blasphemy is an unforgivable sin grow to be introduced approximately interior the middle a while whilst the catholic church had a stranglehold on the completed continent of Europe. IN those days, the church grow to be not a tension of god yet a pseudo-non secular-political empire that stored administration over kings and all and sundry. the reason that the christian faith, in particular catholics believes blasphemy is that one among those sin, is via the fact interior the middle a while, the powers that did not prefer human beings to question their teachings or think of for themselves. Blasphemy, or being a heretic is worse then homicide because of the undeniable fact that's some distance worse to project the human beings who enslave you, then homicide a fellow slave.

Blasphemy is not the unforgivable sin. The unforgivable sin is believing you are unforgivable, in otherwords, not accepting God' loving mercy. Blasphemy is saying bad things about the Lord (a lot of people do it on this forum, you should be able to find lots of examples.)

Blasphemy is denying there is a God and boldly confessing it...and there is nothing like unforgivable sin. Christ took it all at the cross. The doctrine of unforgivable sin was just a ploy to hijack emotions of people so they can be submissive to earthly religious authorities.

Then you'll get even more on here! (grin) I'd say blasphemy is "taking the Lord's name in vain" which I think means saying, "Oh my God" or "Jesus Christ" as emphatic remarks.

I've heard some people say that this used to be important when people believed saying someone's name could put a curse on somebody.

I've thought about it and I don't really think it is unforgivable.

Blasphemy is claiming to be God and applying his characteristics to yourself. The religious leaders rightly saw that Jesus was claiming to be God. What they didn't understand was that he is God and thus has the authority to heal and to forgive sins. Claiming to do something that only God can do. Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is denying that the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. Whoever rejects the prompting of the Holy Spirit removes himself from the only force that can lead him to repentance and restoration to God.

It means to lie. Usualy used in reference to speaking about God and his ways. Actualy there is no wider and more thouroghly slandered being in the universe.
Since there is ample ablility to read and understand what he wants of us and why, we have little reason to get it wrong.
If you know what God wants and preach other than the truth it is unforgiveable and puts you on the same plane of criminal as the Devil himself.

I have done this serveral times already... sheesh

the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God b: the act of claiming the attributes of deity
2: irreverence toward something considered sacred or inviolable

Therefore, christains are blasphemous in their contempt for our deities, or lack there of. They are irreverent to everyone else's sacred beliefs.
