Is there such a certification?

This function is generally reserved for priests and religious. I have never heard of a certification program for the laity. If you feel, however, that you have the training and charism for it go ahead.

Peace and every blessing!

Yes, there is a training program. Most of the time, you have to be a vowed religious person (nun, monk, priest) to go through the actual program, but it's mostly classes in theology, and in the practices of the church. There are also classes in working with people, and in handling crisis situations. Your local parish priest would be your best source of information.

This is something that varies in every diocese. Though historically, this was only done by priests, with the growing shortage, it has become more common for the laity to direct. I believe this is a great opportunity for you if you are serious. Ask your pastor and he will be able to guide you.

Probably should ask either your parish priest or go to the diocesan headquarters and ask there. There are certain certificates to be had in order to teach, I know. But spiritual directing, not sure.

In the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, there is a three year training program in Retreat/Spiritual Direction.

Here is the website: http://www.archdiocese.la/prayer/spirituality/direction.html

Contact your own diocese for the training program in your area.

With love in Christ.

Ask your local parish priest. There's probably some sort of training for it. Good luck!

sell your soul.... anything catholic begins that way.. that's why they steal them from babies through baptism... then put them through brain washing schools so that they would never know the freedom of being whole... because to many would fight back...leaving them even if they left the church numb for life..... don't do it man... save yourself and get out while you can.
