Stop trying to feed your kitten if it's bubbling. Your most likely putting fluid in it's lungs. Make him comfortable and be there when he dies. That's all you can do. There's nothing you can do now. A vet would most likely euthanise him at this point anyway.

I am sorry for you.

First Thing!
Keep it warm!
wrap it in a towel or couple of sheets of paper towel or toilet paper or whatever soft cloth you have, gently.
You can feed it when it comes around, but keep it warm.
Prevent Hypothermia first, then worry about hypoglycemia.
Feeding can wait a few minutes. Get some luke warm water - get an eye dropper(flushed clean) or a small water dropper, and drip a couple of water drops in it's mouth, with belly down.

Never feed an animal on it's back - it can aspirate food in the lungs.

If you can find your self some pedialyte(1 cup), condensed-whole milk(not low or nonfat)(1 can), plain yogurt(not low fat or non fat)(2 table spoons), 2 table spoons of mayonnaise(real mayo, not imitations), 1 table spoon karo syrup, 1 package knox gelatin, warm water(12 ounces), mix them up and try to feed that, it might work as well. If you don't have karo syrup or knox gelatin, just try without it.

Keep it warm. That's the most important thing.
Then try some water - if it rejects water, try the mix I described above...
Good Biddings...

When it starts feeding, check for bowel movement - make sure to help it poop by stimulating it's tummy and genitalia - since you are the new mother, it's now your job. Keep the kitten in your palm and lightly, ever so gently tap it's back to make it burp after it eats food - if it's painful for it, then just keep it on it's belly and warm so it doesn't cause digestive problems like diarrhea.

When it gets to be about 6-8 weeks, look for fully cooked, bare chicken - no skin, no bones, grind it up into small tiny pieces, and mix it up with the above mentioned formula and see how your kitty likes it. You can try first stage babyfood(chicken, turkey, or unprocessed burger patty) fully cooked(boiled, no seasoning, no salt, no sugar.)

The kitten will need constant attention for the next several hours, until it stabilizes... keep it warm.

In the mean time...

Call an emergency clinic and ask them what else you should do. Most clinics will take the stray animal and treat it as long as it's not too badly injured and/or if it's not a personal pet of yours. If they are willing to work out a credit/payment plan with you just to take care of the emergency, then that's great too.
(I'm not a vet or a medical professional, it's just what I learned and read about from when my kitten was sick. The vet I consulted suggested the same.)

So, since you can't afford a vet, can you tell me a bit more? Any idea how old the cat is? Are its eyes open already? Was it able to walk when you picked it up?

Try massaging its tummy gently from ribcage to tail and see if it will poop or pee. That could be why its belly is swollen. Kittens cannot poop or pee on their own until a certain age (I think it's 4 weeks.) Mom does it for them by licking them to stimulate them to go. Try this once or twice, and if there are no results, or if the rubbing seems to hurt, leave the kitten alone. It could be injured inside. If it won't take formula, DO NOT FORCE FEED IT! It might be too weak to swallow properly, and the milk will go into its lungs.

I do not think it sounds like this kitten is going to live. The best you can do is keep it warm and dry, and hope for the best.

He could have FIP, Feline Infectious Peritonitis, which is fatal to kittens. This means his body cavity is filling with fluid and he will die soon. The bulging stomach is a clue. I've seen a whole litter of kittens die one by one of this, and the momma cat is just fine. However, she was considered a "carrier" so had to be fixed and after that could only be in a single cat household because the disease is so easily transmitted to other cats. I've seen all the cats in a household die of this disease. I don't think there is anything you can do to save this kitten. You could take it to the humane society and ask them to humanely euthanize it so it doesn't suffer any more. Your efforts, however, are admirable, so don't let this one sad experience prevent you from saving another animal some time in the future.

There is a vet in our area that will fix animals for free if it is injured and not a pet. You found this kitty, so maybe a local vet will do the same for you. The kitty could have internal injuries or poisoned. Also, you could try animal control. I do not know if they have someone working 24/7, but the kitty sounds like it was abused. Finally, maybe call the local police and see if they are interested in the situation.

If you are in northern Mass or southern NH let me know, I will come and help you if I can.

For now, try to stimulate him by rubbing his bum with a wet cloth, he may be constipated.

Also, rub his belly with your finger in circles, this helps with digestion.

Did you give him kitten formula? If it isn't made for kittens, don't give him anymore

Has he had any water, if not put a little in whatever you gave him the formula in, just to hydrate him.

Also, if you have any brown sugar it sometimes helps to perk an animal up a bit, but just use a teeny tiny pinch and put it on your finger and put your finger in his mouth.

Keep kitty warm, either in your arms or with a heating pad.

Good luck, and email me with ANY questions.

And remember, even if he doesn't make it he had a great ending; you took him in and loved him, and he didn't pass alone.

If you can get him to a shelter you ought to. Some have emergency numbers. Try calling. Sometimes kittens just don't make it - he may have just been left in the open for too long. If you think he is really going to die and there is no time to help or you can't get a hold of anyone, stay with him and give him love until he passes. Its going to be okay. Just take a deep breath. Do what you can, and if you can't do anything just be calm and stay with him. Sometimes that is all you can do.

You should take him to a vet. They will probably take him in and take care of him then place him in a home when he old enough. He probably needs some fluids.
That said.
If you try to treat him at home you need a heating pad, the food you are trying to feed him, the sugar water that someone already suggested. Get him warm, get him fed.
Good Luck.

Vet is really your only option. I'm so sorry. I must be honest and tell you that his symptoms do not sound good. I have been through this and the kitten I was trying to save was a little older but was acting much like your boy. Best of luck to you, but please prepare yourself for the possibility that he may not make it.

Well if you fed him, did he go to the bathroom? This may sound gross but kittens and puppies when very young need their mothers to help them to do it... I know because one of my friends dog died after having pups and she had to care for all 7 of them herself. They kept dying one by one till finally the vet told her she needed to poop and pee them. She had to take a warm paper towel to their private parts but by the time she found this out she had already lost 5. Sad but true, two of them did end up surviving after the bathroom mishap. I would still recommend a vet, but try what I just told you too. The kitten will die if he doesn't get help, Good Luck!!
