Hi there. The best way to practise at a driving range is to imagine that you are playing on a proper golf course. So, stand on the tee and picture your opening shot, probably a driver. Select an area of the range as the "imaginary" fairway and hit the best shot you can. Then put the driver away and play your next shot with a mid or long iron - just like you would have to do on a real course. Then put the iron away and play your next shot with a wedge or sand wedge. Pick a target for every shot, just like you would have to do on a real course. Then get your driver out and start the "second" hole. Play your way around the imaginary course and you will be preparing yourself for real golf on a real course. Most people just use the range to slam golfballs, but my way is far better. Play well!

there are several good answers here already. A couple of things I'll add. Range time can equal conditioning....You will be using the same muscles over and over. also Remember the range time is only good if you do it seriously. the term "practice makes perfect"? Should be perfect practice makes perfect. And an occasional visit to your local teaching pro won't hurt any either. He can help you with drills that will help to improve your game.

The only way i found to practice and improve my golf was to play the game with a Friend twice a week,
it takes time but eventually you will see for your self what mistakes you are making

When your at the driving range your practising your driving...if you wish to improve try aiming for something or try to better the length of the hit..
To practise golf...you will need to be on a golf course and practise the variety of shots with your different clubs.
Enjoy...

I believe it was Harvey Penick who recommended very slow swings for practice. Think Tai Chi golf. It lets you ingrain a perfect swing path and see where you are at every point in the swing. Of course, if you're going to do this indoor, the driver is probably a bad choice. :)

like a lot of things golf is about consistancy if you can repeat a good swing over and over you start to get muscle memory and then when you are actually out on the course you will be able to hit the ball accuratly with consistancy.

Learn to putt, chip, pitch first...Stay away from banging drivers for a while...Learn to get the ball in the hole first...I would then consult with a teacher to learn the fundamentals of Grip, alignment, posture before you work on your swing..If you learn those fundamentals first, the golf swing will be much easier to build...
