If you make a potato cannon don't make it out of pvc or cast iron pipe. At least make it out of copper/steel/aluminum so it doesn't blow up in your face. Anyone that says otherwise hasn't looked up the specs on the psi rating of pvc water pipe.

I've seen some pretty creative furniture frames made from PVC pipe, but you'd have problems launching them.
If you need to launch something build a potato cannon or a rocket.
