RMS - Root Means Square. It is the formula used to determine the ACTUAL power your amplifier can produce within the distortion levels and the rated frequencies. This is considered the absolute rating of your amplifier.

PMPO is NOTHING... This is a NEW term. What is stands for is PEP...which is Peak Envelope Power. This term is what the amplifier can produce wattage-wise at any given moment, temporarily. It CANNOT produce a 'peak' wattage for a sustained amount of time.

Amplifiers of any kind (power amplifier, receivers, etc.) are rated for home use by their RMS ratings.

Hope I helped.

Hi RMS stands for root mean square which is a power rating for electrical equipment. The term is not mentioned today because rms can be a bit misleading .A Continuous power output is the one commonly used as it gives you the maximum undistorted output of a multi channel amplifier with all channels running into a specific load. An amplifier can supply double its output for a brief period without going into overload This is the PMPO rating (peak music power output) which some amplifiers state in their specifications to make the amp appear more powerful than it really is.So it's best to avoid that measurement and look for the continuous output specs. on a amp.

I agree, PMPO is gibberish. RMS or , more correctly, continuous, power is a way to state the amount of power an amplifier can supply long term and will give you a much clearer idea of the amplifier's ability to provide power in a real life environment. An interesting point to make is that when you want to increase the volume (sound pressure that is) so a human can hear the difference, requires a doubling of power . To double the volume requires 10 times the power!! I digress, sorry! Good Luck!

pmpo is crap and u dont even want to pay attention to it its like the max rating in car audio if u know it at all and it usually wont reach that and if it did it would be for less than 1/10th of a second. rms is the constant power the amp puts out/speaker can handle

I wont bother copy and pasting when all the info you need is on that link there. Just read it, it explains it all.
