They go into heat at about the age of your cat. MAles are a little later to mature and go into heat.. The males really start to stink and spray everything once they reach maturity. Females just try and stick their rear end in your face...it's really annoying. A lot of vets offer discount spaying and neutering certificates if you ask for them....you pay $60 and a animal organization picks up the rest of the cost.

Anywhere from five to 12 months is the age range a cat can have her first heat. It will be different with each cat. The average of 6 - 8 months of age is often given, but an individual can may be older or younger than this. It is highly advised to spay her prior to a first heat.

there is no precise answer to this. My cat started at a year old, other female cats start at 6 months others a bit after a year.
Male cats in the other hand can start as kittens like mine did at 9 months... so yeah male cats are almost always in heat.

Females go into heat between the ages of 4 to 6 months for the first time. If there is a male around, it does not have to go into heat to get your kitty pregnant. It just has to smell your kitty in heat and the HEAT is ON.

Female cats go into heat early. Mine started at 5 or 6 months old. And then it happens every couple weeks. Male cats are like male humans. We are ALWAYS in heat.

She'll go into heat, the hormonal shift will happen at least twice a year. I had one who didn't show at first, but by age 2 she was getting a lot more vocal and rolling. At age 3 she started spraying, she was so frustrated. She'd been indoors all her life, so no breeding, but when she backed up to the photos and let out with a spray, I made the vet appointment and got her in to be fixed.

Female cats (queens) can go into heat as early as six months. Male cats are born ready (just kidding). Male cats do not "go into heat". They simply sniff out the females who are in heat ... then it is kitty making time. And yes, it sounds like yours is in heat. DO NOT LET HER OUT. Even if you want her to have kittens, she is too young.
If you are going to have her fixed, do it soon. Sometimes you cannot fix a female in heat, it is up to your vet to decide. It has do to with the swelling of reproductive organs, etc.
Most importantly, it's not a dumb question! We learn by asking, never be afraid to do so.
Good Luck!

We had one get pregnant before we got her spayed, and she was a very young mom at 5 months! Sounds like yours is in heat. The meowing is different, kind of a yowling, and there's usually lots of rolling involved!
