These 2 hatchbacks are within the similar price range, which one is more reliable, which one is more problematic?
#51 reg ford focus ghia 1.8 TDDI £3600, not the new TDCI engine
#W reg VW golf 1.9 TDI £3700

depends on what you want because i for one would go with the VW because its a german car and that says a lot and i just LOVE golfs,from the mk 1's to the R32's.It also depends if it has a lot of miles,you would have to look at their service records and
it depends if you're the patriotic type because then the ford is for you :D and i really think that german cars are very reliable even though volkswagen means the peoples wagen(car) and in the beginning it was meant to be a cheap and sturdy car that anyone can afford.I hope i was able to help you in your decision.

Go for the newer car. The Ford Focus is a very reliable car, however it suffers from an image thing and the resale value makes it a great buy. The five year difference in the age will make the Ford the best choice all the way. VW Golf's did not have a wonderful reputation either, but manage to hold on to a bit of their value longer.

Vw all day. You want the vw pd engine. With regular oil serviceing and fuel filters they will go for half a million miles!. The ford and their diesel common rails are ok but soon show problems with injectors popping and fuel pumps breaking down. Ive been down the fix or repair daily road and im never going back vw till i die. 1 thing about ze germans they know how to build a car

FORD has come a VERY LONG way and is nearly as good as the other EUROPEAN CARS! BOSCH wrote the BOOK on DIESEL INJECTION! Even domestic trucks all use BOSCH injectors! The TOTALLY GERMAN VW is the better buy and I have seen TURBO DIESEL with nearly 500k mils on them! The FORD then will ALSO be using BOSCH DIESEL INJECTORS< and will be u\just as reliable! A TRUE GERMAN car is STILL the best bet! If I could afford it, I would have a STABLE full of GERMAN cars! They never really break, but they DO GET DIRTY INSIDE! NO ENGINE WEAR at all if you use only GENUINE EUROPEAN GRADE FULL SYNTHETIC OIL in them! GOOD LUCK!

Without a doubt the Golf!! They are more reliable, retain their value more and look alot nicer!! Had a ford and vw, guess what's still on my drive, my golf. Briliiant Cars!!

The Golf gets it every time for me. they keep their price better and are alltogether more reliable I think.

the focus is a better handling car and is not as bland as the mk5 golf, however the german is more reliable.
